OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FIRST DRIVES OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE SAINTS EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LIONS

Mickey says “We have all the right people in the building.”

Y’all ready for Dennis Allen’s next Presser? Should have put a giant paper bag over the Dome, and put Quido back in his car and told him to drive home.

Continuing to get off to SLOW starts has cost this team games.

90% of the time, it’s a fireable offense this late in the season.

Mind boggling that the front office is ok with this.

5-7 … and here we are.

Out-managed, Out-coached, Out-played… with a whole lotta unorganized talent on the field… and no end of this nonsense in sight. Wait for the Pressers… Disgusting.

Holy cow the Lions D is very sus. A very good offense, but not Miami or KC type of explosive. Despite their record the Cowboys, Eagles and 49ers are in a tier way above them.

Put it on Allen and make him answer questions with it on after the games.

Re: OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FIRST DRIVES OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE SAINTS EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LIONS

My full list of observations:
- Carr actually had one of his best games of the season. Low bar I know!
- Pete's calls are about as predictable as the program for a Missouri Synod Lutheran 9AM church service.
- Cam was hobbled and not able to give us anything. Now he'll probably be suffering from it the rest of the season. Stupid AF decisions.
- Run defense up the middle looked better. Off/outside tackle, not so much
- We've playing Baun out of position his whole career. He showed something on the pass rush, where he should be used all the time. He's been set to fail, feel kind of bad for him.
- Goff is more or less the QB we wanted Carr to be
- Lions defense is very suspect and it'll get harder against NYG and CAR who have nothing to lose.
- Pass protection wasn't too good, and we got away with some definite holding in our zebra-assisted comeback
- The Taysom shuffling has reached new heights of absurdity. ALWAYS pulled off the field after 1st down. Carr and Taysom probably burn as many calories running on and off the field as actually playing. Would it kill us to stick with one or the other for 4-5 plays in a row?!
- We're gonna get trapped by CAR and give Bryce Young something to build upon in his career, I can feel it. Too much parity in the league for CAR to finish with 1 win.

Re: OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FIRST DRIVES OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE SAINTS EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LIONS

At the start of the post game press conference Dennis Allen vehemently refused to answer the question of whether they would think about resting Carr in light of the injuries he has built up, with the example that they did the same last year with Winston. All DA would do is angrily repeat over and over "those are totally different situations" and "I'm not going to get into the business of it" and "I won't compare."

The business difference he absolutely won't discuss or compare is the ridiculous salary he and his dim witted boss gave Derek Carr.

In the mob, when the answer would incriminate your boss, you take the fifth, or you swim with the fishes.

Re: OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FIRST DRIVES OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE SAINTS EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LIONS

Scott Shanle was saying that the team didn't quit and doesn't have character issues. He's right. I think I remember Mickey Loomis having drafted more team captains than any other team in the league.iirc We draft high character guys who don't quit when the chips are down and fight back. The problem is that the coaches don't have the same mentality as the players.

Once again, we don't have an Alpha male in the building that is a leader! We're either working with dollars and cents/cap geniuses or X's and O's personnel who have no clear direction or leadership.

Can anybody here fix a broken rudder?

In my best british accent...." You gave it a fine try boys. Just keep doin' what you're doin' and ignore the rising water. All is well....." Aaarrrgghhhh.......:nutkick:

-Bet against the Saints today. Did not see any way they would win.
-Wasn't on my local channel. Chose not to drive the 30 miles necessary to watch them.
-Carr was a mistake.
-Allen is not a NFL Head Coach.
-If Hill came in after Carr's two exits, the Saints would be 7-5.
-The team has infinitely more talent than its record reflects.
-The Rookie needs to start the rest of the season at QB. If he has the skills, it will help the team with its abysmal cap situation. If he doesn't have the game, it will facilitate getting the future QB in the building through the draft.
-Allen and his staff are dead men walking. They should have been fired before the bye. Asking the players to show up and play for him is ridiculous. They deserve better.
-Loomis has done a HOF job for the franchise, but he needs to move on as well.
-I'm out. See y'all next year Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. 😁
-Bought me a Texans hat today.

It'd be nice to see what Haener can do, but putting in the rookie and then taking him out every 3rd play for Taysom because that is Pete's MO gives Haener no chance to develop or learn.

Re: OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FIRST DRIVES OF THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE SAINTS EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LIONS

I think many of the players actually do have character issues, and their battling back is actually consistent with the character issues they have. Listening to some of the players in their press conferences, I think Mickey Loomis and Dennis Allen have assembled a roster with many players who have the same attitude they do about winning and losing, that it doesn't matter, that we should not get down on ourselves or take it hard ever, and we can always work on it next week. Listening to the players post game press conferences last week and this week, hardly any of the players seem upset. Derek Carr did not care last week, he was laughing off what an incredible unexpected play the defender made to intercept him, when he answered with 0 TDs. Jameis Winston seems like the nicest guy in the world. Its like having Fred Rodgers as your backup QB. He didn't fight benching last year, doesn't want to go somewhere he could start, and in todays press conference he just stressed that the Saints coaches, players, and fans are all one family and just have to stick together to be happy. He can't fathom the concept that fans could be angry about bad management, coaching, and play, he just wants us to cheer happily forever so maybe they can win 8-9 games. We have seen in interviews that Kamara cares, and I bet that makes him a cap casualty or trade bait in the offseason. We don't see Kamara put in front of the camera on press conferences. So many of our players are just like Dennis Allen, glass is half full, we'll work on it, there are a lot of positives. CGJ would have none of this, he would put his reputation on the line trash talking St Brown and be mad as hell for a loss, thats why he was labeled a cancer, why he is gone. I think Dennis Allen is infecting the entire team with players who share his loser mentality, and we need to clean house as soon as possible.

The one upside of stacking the roster with players who don't care about winning or losing is that they can't be broken because they are always bending. If they get behind 21 points they won't stop trying as much as they always tried, because many of them don't care at all. Just like Jameis did not care about being benched. Just like Carr does not care about throwing interceptions. I have not heard Haener talk after a loss but I would guess he was drafted for the same mentality and likely shares it. Tom Brady would have none of this. He would not be all sunshine after a loss. We need winners, not a bunch of losers thinking the glass is half full at 5-7. Kamara is one of the only winners we have. And I respect Olave for showing some frustrations when we have struggled, it shows maybe he cares too.

My observation from the game was the amount of Lions supporters there were in the dome! When our offence were on it seemed like it was deafening! Lots of blue shirts everywhere! I guess the Saints fans selling their tickets to them just wanted their money back! Such a shame!

Hadn't seen any one post it but ...

Derek Carr did suffer another concussion on Sunday (Lions). That is #2 in a month. Per Allen he's also being evaluated for a rib injury.

Source - Mike Tripllet@MikeTripllett

I'm no doctor but you don't want to be out there gambling with concussions. Shut him down.

Side note - Malcolm Roach also suffered a knee injury that could require surgery, pending final eval.

Disagree.

The fact they didn't fold down 21-0 says a lot about the character of the team. Minus many starters they still battled back.

Presuming the league doesn't step in I'm sure we'll make every effort to rush Derek back before he's ready and overrule the spineless medical staff. This is a recurring theme going back to the Payton days.

There seems to be a predictable rhythm going:

Carr plays horrible -> Carr plays nominally better -> Carr takes a hard hit and gets knocked out of the game -> Carr comes back next week and plays abysmal because he's still banged up -> (Back to step 1)

Again and again, it’s almost criminal, the amount of talent, potential, and character we have out there (besides a top tier QB) that is being mismanaged, poorly trained an poorly coached, and simply lacks the discipline, focus and motivation that COACHING would correct and coordinate. We have a management problem that just AINT going away any time soon, unfortunately.

Y’all KNOW that Carr was never the answer, Dalton was never the answer, Winston was never the answer, Taysom, although an absolute monster of a baller, and an amazing Swiss Army Knife, was never the answer as a QB to replace Brees… Just as DA was never the answer to replace Sean Payton.

And here we are…

So the question is, what’s up with our Front Office?

You can also not fold because you don't care. When I play laser tag at a team building lunch with coworkers I don't give up if I am way behind, but thats not because I have amazing character. The players have a coach who will absolutely not be angry ever if they lose. So why should they worry if they are behind? Why should they try any differently if the message from coach is 'lets not keep score.' Why not just keep pursuing stats for their next contract negotiation and take advantage if the opponent with the big lead relaxes? Listen to the players post game press conferences. I just don't hear fight in many of them, I hear echoes of Dennis Allen. The fight is in the guys like Kamara and MT who they won't put in front of the camera, but those guys are being weeded out as cancers just like CGJ was.

If you (head substitute teacher) can't win games with that cupcake 2023 schedule, you've earned the right to be fired. Especially with the roster assembled.

These coaches still approach the game as if it's 2012 and Brees is under center.

And you better draft a QB too. Big picture, Derek Carr ain't it. Lacks pocket presence, limited in his mobility (hence the sacks) & isn't a leader.

It starts and ends with the Saints front office though.

NFL Network featured the Lions stud rookie TE Sam LaPorta.

So far he has 64 receptions, 680 yards and 6 TD.

That's 3'x the production of our trio TE (JJ, Moreau and I rest on Wednesday Jimmy G) thus far.

Saints would be crazy not to make a move on Ben Johnson this off season. But I guess you have to get rid of the substitute teacher first.

#45 for the Saints is covering no one like he is in High School. Goodness gracious.

Notice the creativity, misdirection (see the Jameison Williams TD) & pre snap motion by Ben J's offense & subsequent score.

With the talent we have on offense, any reason why we can't replicate that in the redzone?

You do realize there are several levels of concussion measurement, right? The bar is set incredibly low allowing entrance into the protocols with the vaguest of parameters. The league is covering their butts. Once again, it isn't the team or the players that gives the clearance. It is the league.
