Things like that matter to free agents. They want to see that the organization doesn't skimp on things.

Yeah, the workplace is where they'll spend more hours than regular people normally do at a job so its really important.

Football organization receives a failing mark, immediately acts to improve no matter the cost.

Government - take a lesson.

Apparently, they are too busy try not to let the other party get anything done! :argue:

From what I had heard these renovations have been in the works since well before any report cards ever existed. The following article confirms that. The renovation plans date back to 2019.

From the linked article:

“2019, we started planning for the cafeteria,” said Maureen Clary, a consultant and broker associate with Corporate Realty, an agency that Saints owner Gayle Benson purchased back in 2021.

Saints chief financial officer Ed Lang chimed in: “I have a full set of plans up in my office, literally the full set that’s dated April of 2020. So those were finished in April 2020. That was COVID. We were actually going to start this project a lot earlier, and then COVID hit.”

“We couldn’t get the steel for it,” Lauscha added, with Clary explaining that the pandemic’s logistical hurdles limited access to both raw materials and complex equipment like power transformers. He continued, “It’s coming together now. I mean this with an abundance of respect for any grade that’s out there, but this definitely isn’t why we’re doing what we’re doing here. We really do want to have the best facility that we can. Even when that grade came out, if we said let’s start then, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

The difference is that the Saints "self-scouted" and saw that their nutritional/restaurant facilities were subpar and began acting on that in 2019, four years before the NFLPA instituted team "report cards".

Government never "self-scouts". Seldom do they even react when deficiencies are pointed out. I believe part of the problem is that politics have become more important than results to most of the constituents. Government is no longer held accountable.

There must have been some rumblings from the players who have been to better cafeterias on other teams and realized that they need to invest heavily to ensure that our players are taken care of. One thing about Tom(RIP) and Gayle Benson is that they really care about the players and their families. This is the type of move that separates the family owned Saints from the multimillion dollar corporations where the only thing that matters is making a profit.

I really don't think these upgrades had anything to do with any player complaints. They appear to be part of the entire multiyear project to upgrade everything. Yet another indication of the Saints' commitment to stay in New Orleans for many, many years to come.

The Dome is completely unrecognizable to anyone not having seen a game there in the past couple of years. I'm expecting the improvements made this off-season to make that even more true.
