He struggled because he held on to his old coaches too long and didn't evolve with fresh ideas and concepts. Nepotism is why he struggled.

In fact, that has been a team problem for way too long. Maybe it's because we are a family run business and not a greedy corporation that only cares about profit and public perception. The problem was our coaches weren't good enough to get poached and they were all drinking buddies.

When Payton cleaned house he brought in the right coaches. It looks like DA has done the same thing. In 2022 he cleared out most of the defensive coaches Payton hired and fielded a good defense. This year he let the offensive staff go and replaced thm with his people. Let's find out if it works.
Nepotism has always been a huge part of the entire NFL, not just the Saints. Half the great "coaching trees" are figuratively, and sometimes literally, "family trees". Some of us are excited about Klint Kubiak who studied with Kyle Shanahan and father Gary Kubiak mastering the offensive schemes of Mike Shanahan.

Hey, I was just damn glad to see Gary Kubiak out there at minicamp. The more input from proven coaches we can get, the better off we are. I really like Klint Kubiak's choices for his coaching staff. Almost everyone of them are grizzled veterans of the wide zone offense.

See? What I started as a pessimistic (somewhat realistic) post, can easily evolve into potential positives (even if potentially unrealistic), without any animosity. 😉

This is the beauty (and ugliness) of free speech. Thank you Rugs, for keeping it real.
