DONE
First, no disrespect to the great folks here - but I'm done (AGAIN) and about to go back into football hibernation.
I wish you guys and gals nothing but pure enjoyment in your cheering for the Saints - no matter how the season turns out. Myself, I gain nothing good from this BS. I know that I will still check the scores each week hoping they win, and may even watch a few plays here and there (decades old habits die very hard), but any hope that this Saints team is better or that this so-called sports league is less corrupt are through the uprights and straight into the crapper. I already put the Fake Football League out of my life following the Minneapolis Screwjob playoff loss (no offense to WWF's Bret Hart). I must admit while the Saints were playing the past few years at a mediocre(-) level, I was lured back in as a casual viewer. I knew the team wasn’t going to seriously compete, so it did not bother me when they could not pull their heads from their rear ends. It was more a case of “something to do” when the Saints were on TV in my area. But I feel myself being sucked in deeper and deeper with the strong finish last year (close AGAIN – but no cigar) and the dominant 2-0 start (aka illusion) this year. And I feel myself getting more and more pissed off at the stupidity of games like I have seen the last 2 weeks. I’m not going there (again) because I have already seen how this play ends. And it is just that – a fake – a scripted play – just like WWE. 22 men dressed the part in a weekly edition of Kayfabe. I could have bet my mortgage payment that the game would end that way today. Roger Goodell has bastardized the NFL into nothing but an overpriced revenue whore. The teams are favored based on market size. The games are always decided in part (or whole) based on subjective calls by the officials and coaching staffs. Hell they can’t decide from year to year what a catch is! Ratings are the driver – whatever keeps Joe Q Public’s arse coming to a stadium or perched in front of his TV watching mindless ads until the last moment of the game – that is all that matters. I have lost count of how many times I have seen this team make inexplicable plays or get screwed by the refs (not saying that last PI was not warranted – IT WAS). I get the picture. NOLA is a small market. Not our team’s turn to have the belt. We have to be jobbers for a while longer. I say ENOUGH. Football may have been equally rigged since the start, but if so, at least they did a better job of selling the screwjobs. Time for MLB playoffs and the start of the NHL season. Are they fixed too? Possibly… Given my team (Edmonton Oilers) had a comeback from down 3-0 games to tie the series, then lay an egg in game 7 – PROBABLY. But at least it is not so in your face as the NFL. Take care everyone – holidays are coming up. Enjoy time with your family and friends and don’t take this team seriously. It’s obvious they don’t (checks get cashed win/lose so why would they). |
Re: DONE
Yep, likewise.
This is the Dennis Allen led Saints. Sloppy, mismanaged, poorly coached team. I know I said, but I think that with a minute on the clock and Koo seemingly never missing anything, we all knew that DA's defense would find a way to lose this game, because that's what they've consistently done - since 2017 and the Minnesota game. They find ways to lose. This team is not mentally strong and after the batted pick 6, the wheels just came off the offense for multiple drives. If they could have focused and got some points on any of the next 2 drives, we'd have quieted the crowd and settled the nerves. But this team isn't mentally strong, and they can't win close games. They never do. Because it's the same old, same old and it's super predictable, I'm also going to bow out and not waste my Sundays with this disappointment anymore. Hopefully I'll catch some news that DA gets fired but I doubt it. Front office seems enamoured with him for some bizarre reason |

Glad YOU said it. Thank you. |
Re: DONE
I enjoy the Saints, but I’m not the hardcore guy I was years ago. It got too frustrating to watch and it would ruin my week when they lost. Lol. Today I spent the afternoon working on my pickup and occasionally checking the score on ESPN.
I’ll admit I thought the game was over when they turned it over on downs in the 4th quarter. Then I was stoked we actually scored and took the lead. But in the pit of my stomach I had a feeling Koo was gonna convert a long FG to win it. That said, I really hope they right the ship. But I don’t eat, sleep and **** Saints football right now. I do enjoy this place and discussing the games. I understand people having to bow out because it can be quite gut wrenching. Maybe next week. |

Changing out the old spark plugs/wires and points eh :p? Sunday evenings & working (I was only a helper) on my dad's car was THE thing for me as a kid ... great times. Anyway, appreciate the share here :bng:. |

Re: DONE
In my feeble mind, after the demonstration of elite football the Saints played the first two weeks, I had the Saints undefeated at this point, until we played the Chiefs; which I reluctantly and respectfully attributed as a loss. Fooled only myself. Unbelievable. :beatnik:

Re: DONE
I'm not as down on them as most. I still think we win the devision and would not be surprised at all if we beat the Chiefs. I have hated the fact we lost Payton and it was obvious Roger had it out for us but it was the refs that made me lose my passion. Now I don't feel like refs are out to screw us and this Saints team just feels different than last year. I predict 2 to 3 more losses and I've been with low expectations since Allen took over. F#$@ the dirty birds

Re: DONE
Not making the necessary adjustments after last week’s embarrassment at home against the eagles, injuries not withstanding (injuries plague other teams too, but they find a way to WIN), the Saints just showed everybody that we are what they THOUGHT we were. I can’t even call what happened today “mediocre”.

Re: DONE
My join date says '09 or something... I've been a fan since birth, however... My mom would go to the games with the 'ole paper bag.
I knew, and felt it. ****lanta would march on down to kick a field goal for the win. Sure enough after the PI it was basically done... That horribly muffed punt had me saying, "ah, we'll be fine." Yet in the back of my head I was thinking ****, this isn't going to be easy, we can over come that... While still having a voice say, the Saints are gonna lose this now. WE SEE IT ALL THE TIME. |

Re: DONE
My fandom fell off a cliff when I decided that I would no longer pay the ransom for Sunday Ticket which became more expensive than a coke habit. I live in Houston and do not know how to be a fan of any other franchise and it is difficult to follow a team that you can not 'follow closely'.
My visits here became less frequent when a good bit of the content was no longer viewable. Forums are fading away and being replaced by facebook groups etc... Forum activity is huge in attracting new members as well as funding the page (this place is not free by any means). While it is very much a perception thing, it is still a thing. One massive generalized thread looks no where near as active as a dozen recently created topic specific threads by different people. When that one generalized thread is created by a caustic member that many have on ignore present members look elsewhere so that they do not have to be subjected to that individual. vBulletin's (the platform this is on) does not do blocking (similar to Peat) and has an insufficient ignore function. To be clear, caustic people are not people that disagree with you. They are the people that turn a critique of the team into a personal, drama filled, ordeal. These boards have a long commendable history of being hands off. As much as that is a favorable characteristic, it does take its toll on members that just want to talk and read about the team. Halo, Smash, whom ever else may be doing the day to day have done a very good job of providing this space for us, but that's where their abilities stop. We, the members, are the personality and culture of this place and we consistently fail to maintain any semblance of decorum or maturity.:bng: |
