What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
I'm writing this the morning after the 2024 Saints dropped their third game in a row by what Dennis Allen described as getting outplayed and outcoached" by the Kansas City Chiefs.
KC, also decimated by injuries, came up with a different plan. One they labeled "comical": https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/oth...es/ar-AA1rSrcg With key players out, Reid has looked to an unusual mix of talent to lead the offense. Before the Monday game against the New Orleans Saints, it was announced that four tight ends - Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, Jared Wiley, and Jody Fortson - would be on the active 53-man roster. The Chiefs wasted no time showcasing a four tight end formation, as Kelce, Gray, Wiley, and Fortson joined the field for a third down and 22 situation, just over four minutes before halftime. ESPN's Joe Buck couldn't resist a lighthearted quip about the game's odd player line-up, remarking: "If you like tight end play, this is your game." The Chiefs' following move couldn't have been better executed. Right off the bat, quarterback Patrick Mahomes fired a quick pass to Kelce in the middle, who then edged toward the sideline before flicking a lateral to Samaje Perine. The seasoned running back seized the ball and dashed for an extra 15 yards, only to be taken down just shy of the first down marker. What sort of creative plan did Dennis Allen devise to overcome his own teams' injuries? Nothing. Saints responded with a bland, almost "we do what we do" approach. Not only did it not work, the Saints seemed to find ANOTHER new way to lose a game... So five games into his THIRD season as the Saints Head Coach, what Dennis Allen is REALLY telling us is this: If things are perfect and opponents don't expect us - I'm your man. But as the season progresses, I am incapable of making adjustments and coaching at a level that keeps this team competitive. In fact, my teams will be talked about more for how we seem to lose games in the most unfathomable ways possible. |

Look .............
There is no doubt Dennis Allen is not an elite coach. [British speak, avoiding what might appear to be less than polite]. But surely it is time to turn the attention to who is responsible for the head coach having the position. :( |

I don’t see Loomis moving on against his will. That’s just me.
We’re seeing that Kubiak is good but also needs time to mature and develop before he’s crowned the next great OC. To me that requires an offensive minded HC. If we find that person and pair him with say Robert Saleh, this rebuild could be the best thing imaginable. |

Mickey Loomis and Gayle Benson are essentially giving Saints fans the middle finger by not doing anything about his mediocrity.
For the life of me, I don't know why Loomis and DA still have their jobs. It's ****ing baffling to me. |
Re: What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
Then will our fianl record be 2 & 14? I can't see the backup QB winning any games

Well it is a difficult path from hereon. Not just to do with the QB, but to do with the offense in general. Our OL is injured, almost completely, and we are literally running on air in the running back and tight end positions. |
Re: What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
6-11 if Carr misses significant time
7-10 if he doesn't :p |

Can we go back to Guido’s Cartoon Network. This is getting scary now. Where’s he at?

Re: What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
I could see us winning 5-9 games this year if Carr doesn't miss a lot of time, even if we drop the next two, which is not guaranteed. But I can't see us winning the division or making noise in the playoffs if we somehow luck into a wildcard. If Carr ends up having setbacks or further injuries and the backups struggle a lot, I guess less than 5 wins is possible, but it does not seem likely. We play a lot of mediocre to bad teams the rest of the way, even if we are one, which I think we are.

The run defense is bad, the o line is bad and the offense has been pedestrian.
Dennis Allen needs to figure it out. The Bucs won't feel sorry for us on Sunday. |

Re: What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
Too many "what if's" from some here.
Every year under Allen it's another excuse. Bad oline, injuries, QB, Carmichael etc. Things aren't always going to go as planned in the NFL. It's hard for a reason. Good teams will find ways to overcome adversity and 3 years of tape says Allen has no ability to get things down when the dominoes start falling. You can't blame injuries on Philly or the Falcons. You had LEADS in both of those games and found a way to lose. Against KC, only down 3 in the 4th and we can't get it done. Divisional opponent coming up and you cannot afford to lose on Sunday. |

One could argue that the injury to two vital players made a material difference in the outcome all three of those games - Taysom Hill and Erik McCoy. |
Re: What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
As I just brought up in my previous post.

Re: What Dennis Allen is REALLY Saying
THIS JUST IN… Davante Adams said that he’d rather retire than play for the Saints… Ouch.

Don't think Adams would say that considering his mentor is a coach in NOLA and other players he respects (Demario, Shaheed, Carr etc) on the team. |

This is a good time to remind everyone this same leadership group was in the final running for Deshaun Watson.
