Re: Observations and Overreactions from the Saints vs. Bucs game

The good:
- The punter is doing well. Not such a sore point this year
- The timely emergence of Bub Means
- O-Line was a sieve, but at least seemed to keep the penalties down
- Rattler has things to work on, but showed a solid amount of upside
- The hurricane-ravaged TB area got a big win to feel good about. At least getting our butts kicked in had some societal benefit

The bad:
- Honey Badger seemed invisible today. Barely even saw him
- Terrible timing for the Olave concussion. Wasn't available for almost this whole game, and odds of him clearing by Thursday are awfully grim
- Kamara is looking banged up and starting to wear down (I don't blame him)
- TE corps of Moreau, Johnson and Holker played well in the receiving game, but it doesn't feel like we use them enough. Need to give Johnson and Holker some easy receptions as they seem athletic enough to make plays after the catch. This also would've made it easier on Rattler. Kubiak lost the plot on this one.

The Fugly:
- Making Irving and Tucker look like reincarnated versions of prime Marshawn Lynch and Frank Gore is certainly not good
- The horrid pursuit choices, gap discipline and tackling by the OLB and secondary. Honestly, it looked like Division II level, maybe even high school level
- The same horrid pursuit that our DB's use seems to be the instructions that the whole team uses when pursuing a scrambling QB. If you made Baker look like Mike Vick, you've got a problem
- Failing to capitalize on momentum after the tide turned in the second quarter and all the breaks went out way (numerous TB penalties, the deflection interceptions). It gave our defense a false sense of confidence from halftime onward. This proves the point that most of our defensive woes are a direct result of feckless coaching
- The Saints haven't looked this badly outcoached in a long time, particularly on the defensive side. Gary Gibbs and Rob Ryan PTSD at an absolute high

Meanwhile the Cowboys are getting absolutely skull drug by Detroit.

Dallas is 0-3 at home thus far.

That win over the Cows in week 2 not looking all that impressive now.

Doesn’t matter who your QB is when the Defense allows 51.

51 and Mayfield threw 3 interceptions… if 3 of his 36 attempts go a different way the score would have been much worse.

Although it was ugly, but the offense scored! Do we even have a defense anymore? Time for a ground up guys and gals! If we can’t find a mediocre defense, the season is done!

This should surely be the game that puts DA on the street, and yet I have no faith that either Gayle or Loomis have the intention of making his seat warm.

As I said last week, every game that goes by that this awful product is put forward is a massive middle finger to every supporter.

If the second quarter of this game was memory-holed ... we lost 44-0.
