Observations from the Saints dismantling of the Browns

Jahri's induction into the Ring of Honor was cool. There were about 15 former players present.

The Saints are now 3-0 with Erik McCoy playing center. The offense looks far more effective when he's in there. The line as a whole looked much better.

The players all looked to be more animated than they have for most of the season since week two.

Where did Pettis come from? And Austin looks like he can be a solid possibility moving forward.

Browns fans around us couldn't believe how ineffective Myles Garrett was for the entire game. His name was never mentioned once. He was a total non-factor.

Taysom was, of course, on another level than anyone else on the field. Late in the game they put him up on the big video board and the crowd went wild. He finally acknowledged the response to the camera after some prodding from teammates.

Re: Observations from the Saints dismantling of the Browns

On the drive back from Nola this morning I heard a lot of praise on NFL Radio for the Saints and how much better they looked. Rizzi, of course got a great deal of the credit, but the return of McCoy was recognized by a couple of the more astute guests and hosts. There was talk of the Saints being back in the divisional race especially with how both the Falcons and the Bucs have looked recently while on two and four game losing streaks respectively.

I remember watching the play but didn't realize how it went down.

Did any of our DE get snaps at DT versus the Browns? When I look at snap count % the total of all DT is significantly down for this game and the total of all DE is up. I thought maybe we played more 3-4 but that would not explain DE being up unless some DE took snaps at OLB also.

Also, Taysom Hill is an exciting player but I dont believe he stays healthy at that usage level. An offense featuring Taysom so much is a mirage.

MVS has been great. He’s not the guy you want to trust on 3rd down at the marker for his hands but i dont think we have used him that way.

Rizzi is a much better motivator than DA. Head coach personality matters. Its possible Belichick lost his touch as a coach because he fell in love with his own strategery so much he stopped making the effort to motivate players.

We were playing more base the last two games. That included Cam Jordan's snaps up from 10 versus Carolina to 42 and 49 the last two games. That would have included some three DE sets in there for Cam's numbers to be up that much.
