She should sell and ride into the sunset.

Our organization needs new life. It's been needed for years.

The organisation needs a rocket 🚀 up it's ........

The one downside I can think of is, perhaps the future is no NFL franchise in New Orleans.

I doubt that. The NFL loves the City and New Orleans has many things that put it at an advantage over many other cities for NFL franchise and SuperBowls.

The Saints are actually the model for NFL teams' involvement with state and local government funding for stadiums and in return tax revenue back to the state and local government. We were the first to build this type of relationship between NFL owner and State and Local Governments. It keeps our Stadium state-of-the-art and the organization lucrative as well as funnels money back in taxes - travel and tourism fees and taxes - back to the local and state governments. It's a complex formula that the Saints, New Orleans, and Louisiana were able to solve, and probably one of the few places where it could happen as it was an experiment that became very successful.

Technically the NFL would love the majority of their franchises to use the Louisiana/NFL model, but very few have caught on and some use only parts of our partnership aspects with their own team and government.

As for team moving, people do not look at the whole picture. The Saints are one of the few orgs that make 100% of merchandise and concession sales at their stadium. Also, one of the few organizations where the stadium is constantly refurbished by the state government to sustain this private owner/state government relationship. Most other NFL teams are pitching in half and half on stadium renovations, and the government usually rejects that relationship. Many teams only get partial profits from conessions, etc.

Good riddance to Lady Gayle. PERIOD.

I get nervous about the prospect of people who don’t live or fully understand the culture of NOLA buying the team.

The Saints are as much a part of Louisiana as Louisiana is a part of the Saints.

Some rich dude who doesn’t give a hoot about either would want to buy them and move them closer to his “hometown” so he can create a franchise there have his own legacy.

Honestly that makes me sick to think about.

Careful what you wish for.

I wish for a winning team. PERIOD. We AINT DAT.

The “culture” of NOLA right now is the only team to be shut out this season.

When Gayle sells the Saints will be moved. The NFL may like New Orleans but money talks. The Saints are the 28th in terms of valuation. Other perineal losers like the Raiders rank way above the Saints. Whoever buys it will want the fastest return on their investment and moving the team makes sense.

My allegiance lies with the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.

If the Saints move, they ain’t the Saints anymore.

I’m sure some here would be fine with that as long as they can jump on the bandwagon.

That’s not me.

Agreed. If the Saints move my only interest in the league will be my fantasy team. I don't really watch any other NFL games than Saints games anyway.

Totally understandable, IF one has more of an allegiance to the city, than to the SAINTS. Those who don’t, will not be jumping on any bandwagon, but simply following our SAINTS to hopefully some WINNING FOOTBALL. Actually, explains a lot.

Saints aren't moving. Read through the thread before. Not going anywhere if sold.

I am neither informed enough nor smart enough to predict if they will move, the arguments against seem compelling - but its an unpredictable world out there. but I can and will take this moment to be on record that my franchise long enthusiasm will be betrayed and I absolutely would not continue to follow them.

I hate the aspect of US sports that has teams as a franchise that can be moved so the owners can make the asset worth more/get a better stadium deal.

Team owners are custodians of a team, the city/fans are the teams lifeblood and it should never be movrd

I guess if the SAINTS are moved, (assuming that they’re still called the SAINTS), it becomes a question of whether one is a SAINTS fan, or a fan of the City of New Orleans.

I would like to think they would change the name. Some names are generic, but when you think about teams like the Jazz, the Dodgers, the Lakers, those were all names that represented the area where the team originated. I'm sure there are others.

I just hate the idea of the St. Louis Saints, or San Antonio Saints. Of course, I'm still salty over the Utah Jazz. so...

I just love the idea of a WINNING SAINTS, even if they moved to Oakland. 😜

I am far from knowledgeable on this issue, but I tend to think the optics would be truly bad for the NFL or anyone involved with pulling the Saints out of NOLA. It's a prime football site with the Sugar Bowl and Super Bowl and now because of post-Katrina the team has indelible ties to the city that cannot be denied. I'd think all of these factors would make it a non-starter, money be damned.

Good points, but as it stands, our team’s culture is that of the bottom of the pack, a complete mess. The city will no doubt get great press during a Super Bowl that we AINT even getting a whiff of, but the team is in trouble.

For every muff there is a recovery! The Great Jim Henderson said it best: Hakim drops the ball! Hakim drops the ball! Brian Milne might have fallen on it at the 10 yard line! It's the New Orleans Saints' football! Brian Milne, the most unlikely hero of them all, falls on the fumble, the muff by Hakim! There is a god after all!

THAT! is worth remembering!

When Tom Benson died iin his will he set up the way that the Saints are still operating today. If I recall correctly Dennis Lauscha and Mickey Loomis have a lot of control. I think make sure this is a part owner but I'm not sure.

Maybe it is time for Gail Benson to take a more hands on approach with the New Orleans Saints. Her timing to fire Dennis Allen mid-season was necessary.
There is not a damn thing wrong with Gayle Benson and the way she has run this team! She is hands off and writes the checks.

The problem may be that Dennis Loomis is jusy a bean counter and we miss the football intelligence that Sean Payton brought to a team. We need to reshape the front office. Bring in someone open the damn side the talent that Ireland cannot so that we can draft well.

We obviously need new coaches across the board. Darren Rizzi will likely move on even though he is fine special teams coach. We must draft better and develop our players better. There are way too many of the Saints draft picks that are playing at a high level on another team.

We had a rich owner from Texas for our first 18 years & he didn't care if we won or not... so we lost a lot! It was terrible!

His was named John Mecom Jr.

No Thank You for any owner from Texas!

Then she should implement a drug and alcohol testing program for those she has hired. Hello Quest Diagnostics, goodbye Mickey Loomis.
