It also shows why you trade back in the draft and trade for future picks, play the long game even when you might be able to win the division now, because you are building to beat the best not to just sneak in.

The other thing is, when you swing and miss in the trenches, you can't give up on the trenches, you have to give up on the people making those picks, not the position they are trying to address. We get tired of picking oline and dline because we have missed so many times, but that is not because the trenches aren't important, its because a good front office, good coaching, and good scouts are important.

Zach Baun is about to get a huge contract from somebody. Hell, Loomis will probably throw the bag at him. He’ll come back to New Orleans and be ass/injured. He didn’t show any flashes of this while he was here. Fluke? We’ll see.
