Tanner McKey seems like the perfect Chase Daniel.

Re: 5 quarterbacks that could follow Kellen Moore to the Saints

Of course, this is to be taken with a grain of salt:
It took Kellen Moore less than 2 months to find a perfect Derek Carr replacement
Kellen Moore is walking a dangerous line by putting faith in Joe Milton III to turn things around in New Orleans.

Kellen Moore has already identified the quarterback he wants to rebuild the New Orleans Saints with, in his first head coaching job. Joe Milton III has garnered a lot of attention after his NFL debut. It looks like the Saints are willing to take the bait.

Per a Sports Illustrated story, the Saints are rumored to be interested in trading for Milton. It could be a move that happens in the next few days. According to Scott Zolak, a team broadcaster for the New England Patriots, he’s confident a deal could be done before the NFL Draft.

As for “backups”, I believe Jake Haener will be cut after camp.

They had a segment on NFL Radio concerning Milton as part of a Patriots preview. The consensus was that his upside is probably that of a career backup at this point with his only active game being a start in week 17 against the Bills who were sitting virtually their entire starting lineups. He put up pretty decent numbers, but it was mostly against air.

They said the Patriots may still target another QB even though Drake May showed some promise and said that Milton was likely to be the odd man out after just one season. I can see a scenario with the Saints jettisoning Haener and hoping spend a couple of years giving someone like Milton a chance to make the squad with a 7th rounder or a swap of picks elsewhere. There's nothing to lose given the lack of anything special in this year's draft after Ward and possibly Sanders. But, as "a perfect replacement for Derek Carr"? Let's just wait for Arch Manning.

I have a feeling that Mr. Haener will be given his marching papers one way or another.

No more salt needed. The Cowboys just traded for Milton.

Pretty boy good looks ain't enough. Although, one could argue he was really not given a fair shake. He'd be a decent backup, still.

Being a decent backup is the best that 95% of QB's initially signed out of college can hope for.
