Re: Week One Preseason: Saints @ Chargers
The reality is that neither a controversial second round pick rookie who was injury prone in college, only looked ok in college when healthy, and is coming into the nfl at an old age for a rookie but has the measureables nor a 5th round pick second year player who was just ok in college, was 0-6 their rookie year in the NFL, and lacks the measureables but showed some flashes with limited weapons their rookie year are likely to become quality starting QBs in the NFL. We are going into the season with two longshots. The mostly likely scenario is still a high pick in the 2026 draft, but if one of these guys is good enough that we don't get one, all the better.
Essentially we may be spending this whole offseason debating whether Brandon Weeden or Colt McCoy is our savior, or whether they are both future hall of famers. Except Weeden and McCoy were probably better prospects than Shough and Rattler so our odds are a little lower. |
