Fortner was terrible.

Its not entirely nothing lost, but the loss comes from Mickeynomics. We lost 2.5 million. In March we restructured Saunders contract to get under the cap, converting about $2.5 million of his base salary and roster bonus into an immediate bonus, and wrote him a check. This is at the same time that we were trading for Dalvin Godchaux and giving him guaranteed money. If we were not always scrambling to get under the cap from the biggest deficits in the leahue, we wouldn't have had to guarantee extra money to a player who was a very forseeable cut/trade.

Ironically, we did the same with Ruiz on the same day. I wish we would cut or trade Ruiz because we need a move like that to send the message that a new sheriff is in town and being one of DA's draft golden boys isn't enough any more, you actually have to produce occasionally.

I'm glad Saunders is gone. I do believe that he means well encouraging kids to run with their confused gender dysphoria but it's so dangerous.

Was he? I believe the “plan” for Fortner is to be a backup OC, freeing Simpkins to concentrate on playing OG & Radunz to man up Pennings spot until he is back healthy.

I kinda like the moves Coach Moore & his staff are making to somewhat “improve” the depth at o line.

I don’t believe Khalen was making the team anyway with this new scheme.

That'll be for another day, unfortunately. Rome was not built in a day.

Now PFF grades are not everything but a overall 52.5 and a pass block grade of 28.5. I think a turnstyle at a stadium could manage a 25.8 grade

Moved a body for a body. They could go out and grab an older vet but they seem to be sticking to this mini-youth movement.

I have never seen so many unhappy people. No matter what the Saints do, some people just like to fuss. For the love of everything holy, you people fuss about the o line so we trade for depth. You fussed about the d line so we signed DG and traded the man he replaced. We upgraded in both positions and and much better this year with the cap. Things are improving. Stop the madness.

I think the fact that older vets come with a guaranteed salary for all 17 games if signed prior to the first game could be an issue.

You won't see me unhappy when Loomis and his proteges are gone and an outside hire takes over the front office.

I believe we have taken some positive steps this year but I am not convinced of whether anyone has turned over a new leaf or whether it was all forced by Carr's retirement and Gayle forcing DA out and the front office will return to its old ways. I like that Carr retired, DA is gone, we didn't trade up or trade future picks in the draft, we got some veterans to take real pay cuts not just accounting tricks, letting Adebo go given the rod in his leg, and that we didn't blow too much money in free agency when we can't really win now. I dislike Juwon Johnson's contract, Taysom Hill still being on the books at $10 million as a 35yo with an ACL who seeks contact, picking up Olave's option when he is one hit away from retirement, and giving Cooks $6 million when he is similar to our other receivers but old.

Loomis needs a really smart driven coach with a plan that Loomis he implements. He needs a football guy and a formulated plan to crunch the numbers on and make it happen. Which he is good at. We look like we drafted substantially better with Moore's guiding hand and were smart not to trade up in the draft this year. We found good depth and hard nosed team captains in college. We got nine draft picks and another goo UDFA class. I don't know if we changed college scouting but Bravo for a good looking rookie bunch.

Also, the free agent class was tip top this year and we brought in several new young cheap starters. Good job scouting and waiting on players contracts to meet the market demand and save Gayle some money Mickey. This a one of the few family businesses left in the NFL and Miss Benson will open the check book like Tom did. He used to be a cheapskate. But he changed his attitude and we won a Super bowl thanks to him investing in the team.

We came back to tie the last game with a sweet 4th quarter rally. I really like the teams young energy and direction. I hope they can can keep it through the losing that's ahead of them after a rough first four games. Kellen Moore had a post game speech, which was excellent coaching and he hit all the points in under two minutes. He let Mason Tipton lead the team as he brought them up with an inspirational moment to close! I almost got chills.

Lance Moore's mom joined the bng after I spoke so highly of him and wrote that she must be proud because he spoke so well and made such an impact. She joined the board to thank me and was here the whole time he was. I'm glad that he is now covering the Saints on social media. Tipton's crisp route running, confidence, and RAC reminds me of Lance Moore.:bng:
