Quarterbacks

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Meh … haven’t been impressed with either QB tbh. To my untrained eye, I’m not seeing much improvement from Rattler. Grupe is going to get a lot of scoring opportunities in 2025....

Rattled is a backup at best. Shough has problems with his footwork, doesn't look like much has been addressed...he has more upside due to his physical ability. He will take over mid year and you will learn what you have or don't have

Re: Quarterbacks

This is where I think about KC Leapfrogging us in the draft and taking Mahomes. Had we got Mahomes that year, 100% guaranteed Sean is still here and we have at least one more SB trophy.

That being said, I say let Rattler have it. But at the same time you could argue you he’s already been in the league a year and should have separated himself a bit more from the competition.

I don’t think either of them will be starting anywhere in a couple of years. Unless we are stuck with them.

The only time they do anything is against the other teams scrubs.

If we win more than 3-4 games this year I will be stunned.

You ought to drop a few bucks on your wagering app taking advantage of the Saints 5.5 over/under number right now.

Re: Quarterbacks

Rattler or Shough? Former GM says Saints have an easy choice in QB decision

'He has way more upside'

John Sigler
Saints Wire

Who should the starting quarterback be when the New Orleans Saints come running out of the tunnel in Week 1? According to former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, it should be Tyler Shough, the team's second-round draft pick.

Tannenbaum shared his take on ESPN's Get Up morning show: "He has way more upside than Spencer Rattler, this is somebody that started way back at Oregon, he's a little bit older. But this is a sneaky good offense with Rashid Shaheed, Chris Olave, and Alvin Kamara. Put Tyler Shough in, much higher ceiling. This offense will surprise people during the season."

It wouldn't take much for the Saints to surprise some people. The team is regularly ranked near the bottom of the league in terms of watchability, and expectations are awful low. A couple of 30-point games would go a long way to busting the narratives that have begun to surround them. If head coach Kellen Moore and his staff believe Shough gives them a better chance to win, they should roll with him.

Re: Quarterbacks

Also quit calling him Bayou Rattler. It’s goofy/cheesy.

Re: Quarterbacks

At this stage, you just have to start the QB that can run the fastest. Because our offense line is peppered with injuries. AGAIN. What are these guys made of? Paper and pansies? And the backups getting injured? Cmon. How is this happening over and over again?

Good grief, just draft offensive lineman next year. See if you can find a couple that are more durable than the TP I wipe my ass with.
