Re: Spencer Rattler Saints Starting QB
We cant think or talk out the kinks, and to put things into perspective, we essentially have two rookie QBs neither of which is presently starter ready.
Rattler has played in 7 inconsecutive games, with a team that had less than a .500 record . Rattler needs to be told more than he is starting week 1. He needs to hear that he has the first 8 games with reevaluation at that point. 1 game to prove your self is too much pressure, let him own something and be comfortable. If he doesn't get it then Shough gets the second half of the season. If they both sh1t the bed they are both looking for a job and we are looking for new faces in the offseason. If Shough were named the starter I would say the same exact thing just with a different name. ![]() We have a new coach and the players need to know that he has a process and will stick to it regardless or how many bags are in the seats. |

Re: Spencer Rattler Saints Starting QB
First let me say I’m pulling for whoever is in the huddle. Sure give Rattler the start and support him but if he does not show more than we saw in the preseason, 8 games is too long a leash. They both had moments good and bad, 1 is a rookie and 1 is a second year player with 6 NFL starts.
Stands to reason 1 QB should be way ahead in the competition and by and large most local sports media sources have little separation in their performance to this point. And arguments can and have been made to support either player. Moore says it Rattler to start I trust our head coach and his staff made the best decision for the TEAM. But 8 weeks of QB recognition and processing like J.T. O’Sullivan highlighted in his film review of the 3rd preseason game with the starters, Moore and staff will not wait that long. Nor will the players. Will Shough be better, only way to make a fair assessment is him as large a sample possible if Rattler has not shown improvement by week 5 or 6. Rattler has now had 6 full in season games + evaluation, yeah last year was tough life isn’t always fair and it is what it is. “May you live in Interesting Times” … Old Chinese proverb to suggest ironically and imply upheaval and turmoil. I view 2025 as interesting because will will watch as a young head coach and staff begin the process of building their team, step by step over the next 3-4 years. |

If we're going to be bad anyways, I rather suck with Shough. I rather have no illusion on whether or not we need to draft a quarterback next season.

Re: Spencer Rattler Saints Starting QB
The additions of Devaughn Vele and Trey Palmer have me looking at this offense completely different. This WR core is so ridiculously fast. Olave, Shaheed, Vele, Palmer, and Cooks paired with Kamara, Miller, Neal, and even Jones should be an EXPLOSIVE offense. Rattler should go crazy with what he's got, and if he doesn't, gotta see what the rookie does with it.
