Justin Reid: Saints’ defensive identity will be to punch you in the mouth

“We have an identity that we want to let everybody know we’re gonna punch you in the mouth,” Reid said. “We’re gonna play fast. We’re gonna play physical and nothing’s gonna be easy.”

The Saints are 6.5-point underdogs when they open the season at home against the Cardinals on Sunday.

I guess it depends on your definition of Shocked.

Some on this board would be shocked if we won 5 games.

I personally think we're just below a .500 team (8-9 or 7-10)

I'd be shocked if we're under 6 wins or over 10. Anything in between wouldn't shock me.

Every defense wants to be faster and more physical so those are platitudes. Its like a CEO saying they want to grow revenue and improve margins. Objectively, I think its harder to play faster and more physical when two of your key players are 36yo and you are starting a guy with a 30's PFF who couldn't stop the run in a pool of wet cement at DE because of where you drafted him 2 years ago. If they wanted to play faster and more physical they would have kept Diggs and moved on from Jordan and/or Bresee.
