Barring injuries, I feel like we'll improve over last year's results. That being said, it's not really a high bar with 5 wins. The only way we regress is if our QB situation craters. The NFC South isn't the most dominant conference. In reality, at 9-8, it's a chance to take it. CKM will surprise many teams in the beginning since many will have no clue what to expect. By the time there is enough film to game plan appropriately, we'll be in the easier part of the schedule probably. If we can split the first 4-6 games, then 8-9 wins is attainable. If the Saints can stack wins, then it means it will take away from Tampa and the other NFC South teams. At the end of the day, way too many unknowns to get a true feel for a prognostication.

This is tough for me, because I want to be optimistic, but it is very hard when looking at the roster. Our roster is not very good, and we have no stability at quarterback. I believe that Shough can provide that stability, but it is still a question mark. So I will break it down based on quarterback play.

If Shough turns out to be the guy, or if Rattler plays really well (better than anything he has shown us so far), then a 7–10 or 8–9 season is possible. Maybe we could even pull off a winning record at 9–8, but that feels like a stretch, because I just do not see the overall talent on this roster. Several players would need to make big leaps for this to happen. Still, I think it is possible, because I like Shough and lean toward him being our guy.

If we get bad play from the quarterback position, we are looking at 3–14 or 4–13.

It could be anywhere in between depending on quarterback play. I know this feels like a cop-out, but there are so many question marks on this team that it is hard to give an answer I feel comfortable with. In theory, we could have a team full of underrated no-names and aging veterans who outperform expectations and win the Super Bowl. That is extremely unlikely, but it shows how unpredictable this team is.

I believe that Staley will be a really good Defensive Coordinator in New Orleans.
