After the "interception" play killed the Saints' very probably chance of winning the game, it was obvious that the team gave up on the very next drive. Brooks threw passes in the dirt on purpose. When there is nothing available, the ball is to be thrown to the sidelines and off of the field. You could tell that the team lost all care in the world. No one tried very hard on the very last drive.
