RE: Monday morning QB

Leinart could certainly learn the art of the inexplicable play from AB. Always handy in the NFL.

RE: Monday morning QB

AB brings a level of frequency and panache to his art that his QB predecessors lacked. Leinart should learn from the definitive source.

wurfle snap dweezle whiz? What the hell are you guys talking about. We have had nothing but Mediocre QB's at best. Brooks has only furthered the history of our illustrius reputation at the QB position. He has been given more chances at QB, dare I say it than any other. Shiiiiit this guy wouldn't have made it 30 years ago for more than a season, unless his name was Archie and I am not completely sold nor will ever be on how good Archie was? I remember watching LSU rip him apart 63 to 17 when Archie had a broke arm and hoping that everytime they sacked him they would break the other one. It's my darkside.

the anwer isn't at the QB position... Its up front on D and O. I am all for trading away Brroks to the Jets... and get as many draft picks ready for next year as we can.

RE: Monday morning QB

Can we get another coach, too?

RE: Monday morning QB

Yeah i say trade brooks. If we are lucky we get a can of Spam and a box of JuJuBees.

LordOfEntropy 10-25-2005 10:04 AM

RE: Monday morning QB

With his pricetag, I doubt we'd get even that. No, we'd probably have to supply the Spam and Jujubees ourselves.

I remember a coach (Green Bay?) saying something about how Brooks lacked an intagible, that something was missing. And now we know what it is. Intelligence.

Really, Brooks is just a moron. An overrated, overpaid higly opportunistic cretin. A can of Spam and box of Jujubees won't make up for that.

RE: Monday morning QB

In Brooks defense, he isn't the one fumbling on reverses, or blowing ref calls, or getting FG's blocked or overrunning the defense. He's just responsible for his own contributions to the debacle of the last 5 years. His portfolio is impressive (depressive?), but not solely responsible. I'm going to agree with a few who've noted that he's not been that bad of late.

Anyone wondering why the Saints couldn't score after the 1st two drives need to remember that the playbook is dummied down so that it's easier for Brooks. It's also easier for the other team to predict and manage. The smarter you are, anything is easier, especially beating dumb QB's with a lot of physical gifts. It's not Brooks' fault he's not that intelligent, it is the coaches and the front office's fault for putting the entire team in jeapardy by making him the rate limiting step. AB's doing the best with what nature gave him.

Now someone once told me, the dumbest person is one that thinks he's smart while calling someone else dumb. Same people in here everyday who would probably score a negative -20 on a dumberlic test.

4saintspirit 10-26-2005 07:46 AM

I have to admit our problems do not stem from AB. Sure he has his share of blooper highlights over the years but this year I think he is playing much better than usual. Lets face it -- fate has not been kind to us this year. The refs are blowing calls all over the place -- our special teams should be playing in the special olympics, and we have the worst turnover margin in modern day football.

xan 10-26-2005 10:14 AM

I'm not saying AB is the only problem. I'm just saying that given all that there is going on with the Saints this season, having minimal deception to confuse the opposing defense is a significant contributor. This makeshift O-line has the disadvantage of having the opposing defense guess correctly what's coming, and of course they get beat and AB gets hammered.

But the coaches are to blame, not AB. He's doing the best he can under really bad circumstances. Not that he was doing that well in the best of circumstances, but he's actually a bright spot comparatively.

spkb25 10-26-2005 10:15 AM

black we never scored 21 points against the eagles that year in the playoff game. we were a head 20-7. i am pretty sure if my memory serves me correct we lost 36-20. i think toi cook got beat up by fred barnett a couple of times. i am trying to remember it was so long ago. i am from jersey and my whole fam is eagles fans and i got my balls broke all day.

xan 10-27-2005 09:12 AM

Pro Bowl Level???? So ya think he's playing better than which of the following NFC QB's (remember 3 go to the Pro Bowl):

98.3 Mark Brunell
93.1 Bret Farve
94.9 Drew Bledsoe
90.8 Mark Bulger
90.3 Donovan McNabb
88.7 Eli Manning

At a Passing Rating of 69.5, Brooks is rated 27th out of 32 QBs with 3 games started. He's had two games with a rating over 90 and 2 games with ratings under 50. With the "dummied" down system, his rating has declined rather than improved; he's 10 points less than last year, which was down almost 10 points from the year before. Some of this is coaching, some of this is play calling. Some of this is the system. But he's not playing well in a system designed for his "special abilities." Now, if you had said Toilet Bowl....

TallySaint 10-28-2005 03:46 PM

Brooks isn't the worst, nor the best.

He's average on an average offense. Many reasons for his success, or lack of.

He's a talent, for sure. Unfortunately, he hasn't been a good fit. Not sure he's to blame.

I'll say this as politely as I can. Get off his ass.

..of course, for every other QB in the NFL, WRs and TEs don't drop passes...

...of course, all of Brooks' passes hit the reciever right on the numbers and on stride...

Get off his ass or what, AB might cry? Better than that turd-eating grin he has on his face every time he screws up.

I'm not going to get off any underperformer making the kind of money he's making until they are consistently playing at an acceptable level.

CHACHING 10-29-2005 12:27 PM

Yeah 5.5 mil is no laughing matter....hahahaha..........
Brooks sucks but I must say that he has been a bright spot on the team in comparison.....
kinda like comparing different turds in the toilet....still just crap.....

saintswhodi 10-29-2005 06:06 PM

A) Never seen a QB with a 69.5 rating said to be playing at a "pro bowl level."

B) How easy it is to forget Brian Scott and Denagelo Hall dropping INTs in the Falcons game, and Travis Fisher doing the same in the Rams game. AB isn't playing any better, he is playing defenders who can't catch.

C) If you throw the ball 95 mph in the opposite direction of the way a receiver is running and it glances off is hands as he attempts to defy physics and catch it, then gets intercepted, that does not count as a drop. It counts as a bad pass, which is on the QB. Same as a 95 mph pass over the middle of the field to a receiver not even looking.

D) AB sucks, he's always sucked, and he always will suck. Does he ever play a whole game? He used to suck for the first 3 quarters then do something to make everyone forget in some 4th quarters of some games, now you never know which one quarter of good play per game you will get. I'll say this, he has been here long enough that our defense should know this, and should have adapted to that by now. I'll knock them for being late to realize who they have at QB.

SapperSaint 10-30-2005 05:47 AM

I still don't know how many times we can talk about.........

Does AB SUCK

or

Is AB a PRO-BOWLER

Who gives a crap! This whole team has NO IDEA how to win a football game. That includes everyone on the team.

Somebody PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.....

QUIT TALKING ABOUT AB!

We need to talk about how to fix this team, and drafting three-five players WILL NOT CHANGE THIS TEAM.

SapperSaint 10-30-2005 05:52 AM

Sorry to be so negative guys, just SICK AND TIRED OF F%&KIN' LOSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:crying:

spkb25 10-30-2005 06:57 AM

i feel you man i am tired of it too. i almost don't feel like watching the games anymore. watching them do the same **** they have for the several years gets old quick. we can't win until we get a new coaching staff and some new players. first on the list needs to be a new coach.

SapperSaint 10-31-2005 12:54 AM

It didn't upset me. Like I said in my post after, I am just tired of losing. Tired of reading headlines that say what I already knew "The Saints Lose Four in a Row".
