WE DEFINITELY NEED TO LOSE TONITE!!!

The Texans are winning, and the Titans are beating the niners. I'm pretty sure that puts us at either #1 or 2 in the draft if we can lose tonite to the Jets. Gotta have faith.

RE: WE DEFINITELY NEED TO LOSE TONITE!!!

It's sad but true. I hate to say it, but I'd love to have a #1 or #2 draft spot and a new coach. And while we are wishing, I wish for a new owner... Terry Bradshaw.

saintswhodi 11-27-2005 02:22 PM

I posted this on another board also dberce. I am gonna be smiling until we F it up and win tonight, just cause it's the Saints way to do the exact opposite of what fans want.

yasoon 11-27-2005 02:59 PM

I disagreed with you last year, whodi, cuz we had a shot at the playoffs (really shoulda been in).

But, this year, there is no shot, and I will not be upset if we go 3-13. Matt Leinert anyone? (That poor bastard would be heartbroken if we got him.) The texans look to be winning today. They will play san fran late in the sh1t bowl. We are certainly looking primed for a top 5 pick.

Tonite, I will watch, drink beer and laugh at my team :)

I'm thinking they're primed for a 6 game win streak....wouldn't that be typical?

CheramieIII 11-27-2005 03:01 PM

and if you look at our schedule compared to the other 3 teams that have a shot at the first pick in the draft, our schedule is the most difficult. So Tennessee, Houston and the Niners will get at least 1 more win each and I doubt we will. I still think 35-27 Jets.

Let's not make that mistake again shall we? lol Not losing out gained us a 2-8 record this year, i'd rather not have that happen again. Just lose baby. :D

TheGambler 11-27-2005 06:40 PM

Anyone who'd ever root for their team to lose can never be looked at as a fan in my eyes.

TOM BRADY WAS A 6TH ROUND DRAFT CHOICE!!!!!!

CheramieIII 11-27-2005 06:56 PM

Hey Gambler I can see your point but would you rather we go 8 and 8 get the 20th pick in the first round and keep the QB and Coach because they made a good comeback? I HOPE THEY LOSE!

Because some people are satisfied with mediocrity, and afraid of any kind of change. 8-8 helped us out so much last year, man I am glad we won those 4 meaningless games against crap teams. Let's do that again.

Ha!

Look at this so-called Saints fan's logic! He wants the Saints to LOSE the rest of the way, and I'm the one who's satisfied with mediocrity!

For-freakin-give me for rooting for my team to actually win when they play, rather than take a chance on drafting Akili Smith (Leinhart?) or Ki-Jana Carter (Bush?) with the 1st overall pick!

Once this season ends, I won't get to see MY FAVORITE TEAM play again until August. I'd rather not see them lose 10 straight games. Sorry, I'm actually a fan.

Even Halo wouldn't mind seeing the Saints lose-out and receive the number 1 or 2 pick in the draft. Does that make him a "So-Called" Saints fan?

If he wants to see them obtain that pick by trading up from whatever draft position they wind up in, then no....

If he wants to see them obtain that pick by losing the majority of their games, then yes, he's an SC, just like several others.

mjf150 11-28-2005 10:23 AM

Maybe wanting the team to lose-out makes us Saints fans too, because we would like to see the team ultimately better themselves. I understand that some people truly dislike the Saints, but I would say that the majority of us, who would like to see them lose-out are not doing it to see the team fail, but rather to help the team ultimately improve overall. At least that is my intention. Does that make me an "SC"?

TheGambler 11-28-2005 10:40 AM

Yes, you are an SC.

You naturally assume that getting an early draft pick is going to improve this team, without question. That's a sure sign of a SC.

The Cincinatti Bengals were drafting within the first 10 picks for YEARS. YEARS, DAMMIT. Sure, they got Carson Palmer......but how many early first round picks does it take to turn a team around???? Chad Johnson, arguably their best offensive weapon, was a SECOND ROUND pick himself!

So in the end.....would you want to see the team lose the rest of this season, only to possibly see them continue losing??

mjf150 11-28-2005 10:48 AM

The Saints have started Brooks for "YEARS. YEARS, DAMMIT." AND we continue to miss out on the play-offs. So, we can continue to do so, or we can go a different direction see what else happens.
No, a top draft pick does not guarantee a winning season, but neither does Aaron Brooks.

stockman311 11-28-2005 10:53 AM

Greenberg said it all

Mike Greenberg said it all this morning on the Mike and Mike show. He is an avid Jets fan and he was thrilled that the Saints won that game last night. He said and I quote "Would you rather wake up with a 2-9 team this morning or a 3-8 team this morning. You want the 2-9 team, because your team sucks either way, but with a 2-9 team you have a better chance of making the playoffs next year".

Can you honestly tell me if Brooks was QB of Denver right now, that they would not have a similar, or better, record than what they have right now with Plummer as their QB?

If your answer is NO, then that should tell you whether we need to waste a first round pick on a QB or not.

mjf150 11-28-2005 12:22 PM

Wasting a first round pick, as you put it, on a Manning-quality pick is great decision in my book. I'm sure I'm not alone in that opinion. But don't take my word for it, ask the Giants. They gave up multiple picks for Eli, and it paid dividends for them in two years.

Yes, I can. Plummer and AB have been similar over the years...big games mixed in with ugly turnover laden crap fests. This year, he has taken care of the ball and managed his offense. 14 TDs and 4 picks. If you are going to tell me that AB is somehow better than Jake this year, then you are not very smart. His team is succeeding largely because of the way he is leading them.

Are the Broncos a better team than the Saints? Yes. But don't give me this plug AB in Denver and they're better than their already very good record. It's all hypothetical and it is pure crap.
