Does anyone else feel beaten down?
I can't help but notice the significant decline in activity on this site recently. I realize that there's no hope for the rest of the season and that there's only one more game in BR. Is there a collective numbness by the entire Katrina/Saints situation that has everyone simply fatigued or is it something else?

1. We could easily be in the playoff hunt if: Early in the season we didn't get those terrible calls that should have overturned TDs, the terrible call that overturned a missed FG, completely awful special teams, and all of this is with Brooks erratic play. Our whole team is a bunch of underachievers. We have the talent -- we do not have the heart, passion, coaching, discipline to be consistent. Then of course there is the whole move situation. Its apparent that the Saints last season in our region is next year. The NFL is going to do just enough to keep a public relations nightmare from happening -- and is promising Benson all of his hearts desire if he plays the good citizen one more year. And finally - the hurricane -- the state of our city -- our homes -- our future -- all is under the gun. Basically -- being a Saints fan is tiring -- its hard work. |
Not only was the game a travesty, but the halftime show was nothing to write home about either.

True Dat. I'm posting less - forcibly relocated by Katrina, virtually no way to watch games anymore. Compound that with all the travel, the hectic daily travails of rebuilding, and the pitiful showing from the team. Regardless, I'd make the time if they'd give me something to be interested in.
But as it is, well... this year's pretty much a complete flop. Bending over backwards to find a way to watch the games - it's not worth it. They're going nowhere this year, we all know this. I'll make time for them next year, when they get a brand chance to break my heart. Again. |
It also sucks that every thread you read, there are 3-4 people fighting/arguing/taking pot shots at each other. Intelligent banter is one thing. But personal attacks/vendettas/agendas drain the power and energy out of anyone, leading to less activity.

Take a look around the forum and join into conversations elsewhere. Try the Big-Easy board or take in a college football discussion. Probably the most damaging element for all fans is the possibility that the team might move in the future. Members, and fans, get deflated. What you see in here is a mirror image of what happens in the bleechers of Tiger Stadium if you get my drift. |
Wins = excitment. If this team were 8-3 instead of 3-8 this board would be hopping.
Does everyone here plan to watch Monday's game? I will. And I'm really hoping that the Saints not only win but dominate. I can not stand the Falcons and I think that Michael Vick is the most overrated player in the history of the NFL. That may be a bold statement and make no mistake, I think that he may be the most athletic player out there, but he is not as good as the talking heads think he is. The question was asked on ESPN "Who got the better end of the trade between San Diego and Atlanta ?" in reference to Ladanian Tomlinson and Drew Brees vs. Michael Vick. They all said that it was basically an even deal. Come on, the best running back in the league and a really good probowl QB are equal to an excellent athlete who has the ability to run away from pressure? Michael Vick is Forrest Gump. Whenever you get into trouble Michael, run. That was a tangent and I'm sorry. I digress. Back to Monday's game. I really hope that the Saints defense shuts the Falcons offense down. It would give me great pleasure to see the Falcons miss the post season due in large part to a Saints win on Monday. Of course, if the Saints lose badly against the Falcons, you can officially put me down as a member of the darkside until this offseason. |
I'll be watching Monday's game because no matter how much they stink they are still my team. Maybe they will give me something to laugh about. I've written this season off a few weeks ago.
I'd like to see some of the bench warmers get in there and show what they can do. I'd love to see A-MAC behind center. I'm at the point that if they win great if they lose great. Win equals possibly spoiling a division rival getting into the playoffs losing equals high draft. Guess that's one optimistic way to look at it. |

I feel like a Saints fan. Call it beaten down if you wish.
