biloxi-indian 01-09-2006 03:38 PM

CheramieIII 01-09-2006 06:55 PM

sarge06 01-09-2006 07:04 PM

Leinart no question is who they should draft. But we are talking about the Saints.

jegirouard 01-09-2006 07:09 PM

vince young if they have good sense. if they draft leinart, consider the saints never to reach above .500 ever again. leinart is garbage.

jegirouard 01-09-2006 07:27 PM

but vince yound could be good, but noway is leinart garbage

CheramieIII 01-09-2006 07:37 PM

Hawk and here is my reasoning:

If we trade down just 2 spots we could pick up as many as 4 more draft picks and if we trade with Tennessee we could wind up with Volek and the QB situation would be solved at the same time.

Then we trade a couple of those 4 picks to get a kick asssss defensive tackle. Pick up another stud linebacker in the second round and use the rest on offensive line and maybe a wide receiver or two with some hands.

If we have an average QB and a great defense we will win more games than with a superstar rookie QB and a average defense.

Guys look at Eli and Peyton they were'nt shiiiiit their first two seasons. Do you guys think that Leinart is better than the Manning boy's. I don't think so.

I don't think I can explain that any better and Leinhart will have no impact next year, we are not talking about the future. The Saints have to win now because if we don't THERE WON'T BE A FUTURE.

HAWK WILL HAVE AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT!!!!!

Is anyone reading this the same way I am writing it. The seats will be full next year no matter who the QB is!!!!!!! The city of New Orleans will make sure that happens even if the fans don't fill the seats.

Winwin 01-09-2006 07:38 PM

a good qb gets the most out of his teammates. makes them play above their capabilities, having the best team in college football, roster for roster name by name. facing losing to arizona state, notre dame and countless other teams they nearly lost to, tells me somebody at qb wasn't getting the most out of his comrades, one are 2 games is understandable not 6-10. leinart spent the offseason partying, while young spent the season melding with his teammates trying to get them better, like in the weight room and film room.

also vince young leadership skills seperates him from lienart, vince's leadership skills are thousands of miles beyond lienart.

treat lienart like a drug, just say no!

papz 01-09-2006 07:39 PM

Remember Vince Young is the type of quarterback that "comes around every two decades."

I find it truly amazing how people are discrediting Leinart who has been a consistent performer throughout his entire college career. Young on the other hand, until this year, has not been on the same level as Leinart. It's amazing how one game made Young into this now super human quarterback that will lead us into becoming a dominating franchise. Young is good, but he's definately not our savior. Leinart is a ready-now A prospect while we'll have to wait with Young. That's a no brainer to me. I'd also like to add that USC's defense is no where near what it's been in years past. They've practically lost their whole defense from last year to the draft. If you watch USC football, you'd know that. By no means am I trying to discredit Young's great performance the other night, but do you think he would have done the exact same thing with Patterson, Cody, Tatupu, etc. starting? I doubt it... though he still would have put up a respectable performance.

why are you so eager to pickup a qb, that his team doesn't want? volek will never be the titans starting qb, even with mcnair on his last leg. that in itself should speak volumes to you, it does to me cause i've been reading the past few days they consider cutting him. something about poor decision making, holding onto the ball to long can't feel the rush yadadada.

Win, where have you been dude. The Titans had several opportunities to trade Volek last year but were asking way too much in compensation for him. If they wanted to get rid of him they would have done just that and post some of your yada yada crap and I will be glad to respond. Just a link or quote is sufficient.

Leinart had surgery during the past off season. Therefore lifting weights was out of the question. I also remember seeing Leinart on the sidelines in camp coaching the other quarterbacks. So...

And so what if he had some fun during the off season, he's in college. Isn't that what you're suppose to do... have some fun? Look what he's accomplished his 4 years there... I think he can do whatever he pleases. If Shannon Doherty came knocking at my door like she did Leinart, I'd party my ass off too. Actually I'm not a Doherty fan... but a Jessica Alba would have done it.

lienart is ready now for what? to party on bourbon street? why i discredit him, i thought i explained that in my post. he plays with the best roster in college football around him at every position. does he get the most out of his teammates? the answer is no! texas has a very good team, but it doesn't compare to the amount of all americans usc strolled out on that night. along with the half dozen are so nearly losses during the season against mediocre teams, a above average qb doesn't allow for those. lienart is doggie poop smelling bad.

was that during the time he spent lifting up those beer kegs at the parties that i saw pictures of him attending? is that considered weight trainning?

papz 01-09-2006 07:53 PM

Of course he doesn't get the most out of his team mates... he's only won 2 championships and barely lost a third.

If you were talking about last years USC, the amount of all americans would have been in the dozens. Now if you talking about this year, you better google it up yourself... I'm not going to do your homework. Same ole BlackonBlack... sigh.

yeah, that exacly what he'd probably say. he won 2 national championships, while vince would say his team won a national championship. and he probably would even be humble enough to mention lsu won the national championship in 2003.

papz 01-09-2006 07:58 PM

I'll just stop here... next thing you know Leinart's racist. I don't know why I'm still in this conversation... I'm just going to go back to the old approach.

A guy who's team won 34 games IN A ROW isn't a leader? It's his fault they almost lost to Notre Dame, Arizona and other teams cause their DEFENSE sucked? That's Leinart's fault? You just have to ignore people like this. Just like when someone says Leinart sucks, you definitely don't need to listen to them, cause that's BS. Saying you don't want him is one thing, saying the guy sucks is stupid.

turbo_dog 01-09-2006 08:43 PM

I'm with you Cherm. I think Hawk is the way to go, especially if we can move down a couple of spots and get some more picks. Of course, more picks are only useful if you choose players who can help your team.

I know that Voleck is considered one of the best backups in the league, but I'm not really sold on him. I do think it would be good to pick up a veteran QB, just haven't decided who. Maybe John Kitna or David Garrard or ... and NO I haven't checked to see if they're free agents or not... just throwing out some names.

Thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard.....

Leinart is the best BEST qb in the draft....

Vince Young is maybe the best athelete but lienar is the best QB we want a Qb pocket passer a guy who can be a leader...

Vince Young is not a leader its all him i dont want it to be like the falcon and we lose when young is out because every1 counts on him errrrr makes me sooo mad why you ppl would want vince young ............................................................................................ i dont understand...

But I say we draft Leinart...

domepatrol08 01-09-2006 08:54 PM

I think that they should trade down to 4 and get some draft picks. Then Select Hawk. Then I would package some of the picks we get and trade back into the first round and select the QB from Vanderbilt Cutler. He should be there at the end of the first round. Everything I read about him is that he is going to be great. I would wait for final judgement until the Senior Bowl but I think this is the way to go. We get the linebacker we need and the Qb of the future.

AllSaints 01-09-2006 08:56 PM

Leinart is our QB of the future.....

BlackandBlue 01-09-2006 08:59 PM

calico?

jergensl 01-09-2006 08:59 PM

am i the only one that looks at young and sees the reincarnation of randal cunningham???

i would like to see the saints draft leinhart and i think he is the real deal, but i think the saints might be best served if (much like chermy said) trade down a few slots, draft hawk in the first round and then pick up cutler or jacobs late in the first or early in the second.

we have to be resonable and realize that we are not going to get many if any good free agents, especially not a quality qb. so regardless we need a top tier qb to build around. brooks and bouman have proven not to be the answer and mcpherson is a huge question mark.

Matt Leinert says, " i won 34 straight games and all i got was 1 lously championship and this Tee Shirt."

jergensl 01-10-2006 07:56 AM

i think the saints could be well served selecting leinhart with the 2nd pick. he has already had to deal with more press and negative attention than most starting nfl quarterbacks and has handled himself very well for such a young guy. one of the deepest positions in the upcoming draft will be at lb. we may not get one of the top 3 in the second round, but we should be able to get one of 4th or 5th best.

i don't know about the rest of you saints fans, but i am sick of having the "decent" qb surrounded by a lot of talent and missing the playoffs. the last time we had a franchise qb was archie and he had no talent around him. despite what a lot of people are saying the saints would be a great team for a young qb to come to. he would have a deuce in the backfield to keep some pressure off of him. horn is a pro bowl caliber wr who had one bad year. stallworth is a speedster that is starting to come into his own. az hakem is a good slot reciever and devery henderson is another good speedy slot guy. hilton is not a great te, but he is a big target. the offensive line is inconsistant at times, but leinhart is mobile enough to move around in the pocket to find an open reciever or get rid of the football.

Euphoria 01-10-2006 10:07 AM

You have to take VY he is a specail player... If we can't get him TRADE TRADE TRADE... we have to many wholes to fill and we need to start rebuilding this team from the ground up.

jergensl 01-10-2006 10:12 AM

and a guy that leads his team to 34 straight wins and has 3 great seasons is not special???

saintswhodi 01-10-2006 10:40 AM

Wait, let me get this straight, take Vince Young, a QB who is less NFL ready than Leinart, or trade cause we have too many holes to fill? Wow. :?
