Here's a mock draft for ya.....

1-Houston: Reggie Bush Rb USC: Duh. Carr is still a servicable Qb and Davis can be dealt for picks later on.

2-Dallas (from New Orleans-The Saints get Dallas’ first rounder #18, 2007 1st rounder, 2006 2nd rounder and DT Laroi Glover): Vince Young QB Texas. And you know Jerry is going to press him onto the field way too early….at least Young’s self destruction will be fun to watch from DC….

3-Tennessee: Matt Leinart Qb USC. The pick goes in so quickly that they bump into the Dallas rep at the podium.

4-Jets: D’Brickashaw Ferguson OT UVA. And the Jets fan boo! But to be frank, they will boo if the pick was Buddha, Jesus or Joe Montana.

5-Green Bay: Mario Williams DE NC State: A lot of holes on this team, no trades seem worth it, so they take Peppers Mark 2.

6-Oakland: Haloti Ngata DT Oregon. Talented player who doesn’t fit their scheme and is a luxury pick when there are clearly other problems? Typical Raiders draft pick.

7-New Orleans(from San Francisco-The 49ers get pick #18, New Orleans’ 2nd rounder and the Saints’ 3rd rounder): Jay Cutler Qb Vanderbilt. The Saints pick up a free 2nd rounder, a free 1st rounder and still get a franchise QB to build around.

8-Buffalo: Eric Winston OT Miami. Winston Justice provides more talent and value, but he’s a RT. They need a LT badly.

9-Detroit: Michael Huff S/CB Texas. They need a lot of help at a bunch of positions. Huff is the best player available.

10-Arizona: LenDale White Rb USC: Still needs an Oline to be effective, but a good value pick here.

11-St Louis: Aj Hawk LB OSU.

12-Baltimore: Jimmy Williams CB/S Va Tech.

13-Cleveland: Mathias Kiwinuka DE BC.

14-Philadelphia: Santonio Holmes WR OSU.

15-Miami: Winston Justice OT USC

16-Atlanta: Tamba Hali DE PSU.

17-Minnesota: Vernon Davis TE UMD

18-San Francisco (from New Orleans(from Dallas)): DeAngelo Williams RB Memphis

19-San Diego: Marcus McNeil OT Auburn

20-Kansas City: Rodrique Wright DT Texas

21-Tampa Bay: Jonathan Scott OT Texas

22-Cincinnati: Gabe Watson DT Michigan

23-Giants: Tye Hill Cb Cletius the Slack-Jawed College

24-New England: Laron Laundry S LSU

25-Denver(from Washington): Leonard Pope TE UGA

Washington’s first pick: #56: Manny Lawson DE NC State

26-Jacksonville: Max-Jean Giles OG UGA

27-Pittsburgh: Hank Baskett WR New Mexico

28-Carolina: Chad Greenway LB Iowa

29-Chicago: Marcedes Lewis TE UCLA

30-Denver: Chad Jackson WR Florida

31-Seattle: Orien Harris DT Miami

32-Indianapolis: Laurence Maroney RB Minnesota.

2nd rounder and Glover and a franchise QB. I would not feel bad about this at all, especially if we get one of those stud linebackers at 34.

Hey jegirouard, there are just as many saying we draft Leinart, only trying to prove the point that it's a crap shoot and if after the draft it's still a crapshoot, but I would rather take a crapshoot on someone who could impact the team now not in 2 or 3 years.

RE: Here

What about Ernie Sims in the second round?

CheramieIII 01-10-2006 09:37 PM

RE: Here

OK who in the hell is Sims?

Milians 01-10-2006 10:28 PM

Ernie Sims is a strongside linebacker from FSU. Is a little undersized at about 6'0 220 pounds. Is fast and hits like a truck. Very intense. Would love for the saints to pick him up in the 2nd round. Will probably test well in workouts. There are so many LB's in the draft that a good one should slip out of the first round.

CheramieIII 01-10-2006 10:40 PM

Thanks Milians. I think I heard that fast thing on some sports show yesterday.

TheDeuce 01-10-2006 11:29 PM

Sims is a complete stud. In fact, he was the number one player in the country coming out of high school a couple of years ago, Adrian Peterson was #2. He's the guy who said he likes to play football because he can legally try to kill people.

frankeefrank 01-10-2006 11:54 PM

Wrong. Darnell Bing goes in the first round

i like the nickname...that is if you where talking to me.

that would be an ok scenario, but i would not be real happy with it. i think that is too soon to take cutler, glover is a great pass rushing dt but he can't stop the run(way too small). if the saints would pass on leinhart to trade down to 18 i would rather see them use those extra picks to start rebuilding the team and get a fa qb. that is not the prefered scenario in my opinion, but if we want to rebuild we should do it right.

AllSaints 01-11-2006 07:05 AM

jay cutler..... why pass on Leinart for Jay Cutler???

Euphoria 01-11-2006 02:34 PM

A double trade in round one... New Orleans??? Loomis doesn't have the brains to pull that off. I think NO will trade down with the Raiders and they'll get Leinart.

We do not even have a 3rd rounder.

saintswhodi 01-11-2006 03:37 PM

Good call 834. I posted that elsewhere. Also, doesn't everyone realize FA happens BEFORE the draft? If we don't pick up this "veteran QB" before the draft, you better bet your arse we are taking Leinart. The front office would not be questioned by ANYONE in the media or the league for taking Leinart. Just some fans. I think they can live with that. But with a GLARING need at QB, for this team not to take Leinart when it is in a perfect position to do so, would immediately bring down more scourn on an already down franchise. If we do pick up a vet FA qb, or someone trades in front of us for Leinart, all bets are off. But if we are at 2, and it hasn't been addressed, that pick would not be questioned by those who get paid to question these things.

because lienart sucks, will be the next biggest bust since mandrich.

pakowitz 01-11-2006 04:22 PM

ooooooooooooooh, he said sucks!!!

saintswhodi 01-12-2006 08:58 AM

Exactly why noone listens to him, and he has been booted twice already. Way to align yourself with a winner pak. Keep scoring them points.

jrmllb 01-12-2006 09:24 AM

I like us moving down, taking Cutler and saving some salary cap room for free agency market...I don't really think it will be Dallas moving up to take Young..

gandhi1007 01-12-2006 11:36 AM

Why is it that we have the #2 overall draft pick w/ Matt Leinart coming out (knowing Houston will not draft him at #1) & guys want to trade down? I honestly believe the top 3 picks will go as they should: #1-Bush, #2-Leinart, & #3-Vince Young. Hopefully, we'll pick up Carpenter at #34 & trade Aaron Brooks for a 3rd rounder, which we currently do not have.

TheDeuce 01-12-2006 12:04 PM

Leinart and Carpenter/Sims/Hodge/I don't care who the hell it is because there are so many stud LBs in this draft. Filling our 2 biggest needs with our first 2 picks. I just doesn't get any better than that.

Not to mention there's no way our FO could pull off a good trade down. Remember, we're the ones trading UP for Jonathan SUllivan

jergensl 01-12-2006 12:43 PM

even though leinart is a far better qb than young i can atleast except the argument that young might be a better fit for the saints, but to say leinart sucks and will be a bust is plain lunacy
