Montrae Holland RFA Saints add him to the list of $$$$$ to be spent

RE: O LINE FA

If Jamal Brown is ready to make that jump to left tackle, I'm a Jeff Backus fan. I think he could come relatively cheap. Oh wait... we have Stinchcomb. You guys think he'll ever pan out for us? He did so well in minicamp last year. It's so unfortunate he had that injury prior to the season.

Re: O LINE FA

Guards
Montrae Holland RFA Saints Keep him, hope he becomes what we think
Ray Brown UFA Redskins Maybe the 22nd years the charm?
Steve Hutchinson UFA Seahawks No way the will let him walk
Vince Manuwai RFA Same.

Tackles
Ephraim Salaam UFA Jaguars Not a bad pick up, isn't he LT?
Jordan Black RFA Chiefs He could play LT, I like what he did when Roaf went down.
L.J. Shelton UFA Browns Was always huge on him, maybe get him and put him back at OG?
Stocker McDougle UFA Dolphins Maybe as a 1 year deal. Hasn't he been a bust or something?
Tom Ashworth UFA Patriots A Pat player? Maybe he could bring it?

I would love Brown(LT), Hutchinson (LG), Bentley (C), Holland/Ray Brown(RG), and Mayberry/Get a FA(RT)
Mayberry goes back to his position too. What you think?

RE: Re: O LINE FA

I don't think Salaam even started for Jacksonville... though he signed to start there.

Now Jordan Black is good, young enough, and will be hella expensive. I'd love to have him. :)

Say no to McDougle!

I'd take a chance on Shelton... I think he can be a solid guy.

I don't think the Pats would be silly enough to Ashworth go... he's in all the commericals! They can't break that up.

Mayberry is back at his position... he's a guard. I think he had like 10 career starts at RT or something like that. I can't remember but it was discussed last year when he was signed.

RE: Re: O LINE FA

Oh, I thought he started there in Phily, and his more natural spot. Think we have the money for Steve Hutchinson? He did just help the Seahawks RB make history.....

RE: Re: O LINE FA

Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson make the best left side tandem in the NFL... I don't think they'll ever dismantle that side of the line. It's their bread and butter. But if we ever did have a chance at him, hell yea I would love to pair him up with Brown on the left side of our line. It's only a matter of time before he moves over there. But... remember we have to resign Bentley and we still have Gandy's large contract on our hands. That's pretty much squashes our dream. :(

RE: Re: O LINE FA

Yeah, But Bentley is the man.... I still can't find a jersey of his......

RE: Re: O LINE FA

You can always make one... I think you can just order it out of Eastbay and customize a name on the back of it. Or, I think Sports Avenue, that's right Sports Avenue, does it. I know there use to be one in the East in the Plaza Mall, but that's pretty much out of the discussion now. If not, just try Champs I'm pretty sure they can accomadate anything.

RE: Re: O LINE FA

Zach i like the line up but i agree the LT will cost too much unless we get lucky. I like the kid out of Boise St. for the draft.
Guards i do like they usally come a bit cheaper. I would love to move Bentley back to gaurd and pick up a veteran center. I think this would give us more flex on the line.
I thought moving Merryberry back to G was to put him at his normal position?

RE: Re: O LINE FA

Idunno for sure, but he did start RT for them last year. I would love to put Bentley back at RG, but I would rather bring in a 3 or less yeared C so we can start new at everything, instead of sporadically. I liked Jason Brown last year from UNC, he went to Ravens. But no way we would trade for a O-line man.

RE: Re: O LINE FA

You can forget about Ray Brown. He just retired today.

Unrestricted free agents consist of the better talent. I'd like to see a list of o-linemen UFAs.
