Defense Wins It Again
Did anyone who wants an QB at #1 see how the defensive AGAIN won the games for Seattle and Denver? Make an offense one sided and you will win. Came true again saturday. Lets see what happens today.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
Hagan I agree with ya but some of the members feel that the QB's are winning these games or should I say offense? The Line is blurry for me now!
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
defense did win those games and there is no legitamite argument against that. a franchise qb would help our already good defense along very nicely.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
true it would keep them off the field. so you guys think with a QB and some good tweeks on the OL will be good enough to get a winning season
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
i am going back to what i have said non-stop since beiung here. i may not always make excellent points but this one is the truth no matter what. you start with both your defensive and offensive lines. if they can dominate you can win the game. that is just how i feel and i don't think it can be argued at all
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
Can't really argue with that... games are won in the trenches. Defense wins champsionships, but that still doesn't change the fact I wouldn't mind seeing Leinart in a Saints uniform. That's just the way it is... you really can't pass up on a chance at selecting a franchise type quarterback.
I think Hasselbach had a lot to do with Seattle winning that game... not just the defense. |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
yeah he had a good game. he has had a good season
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
And Big Ben had a lot to do with the win at Indy.
Don't get me wrong CHer, or anybody else for that matter, I do believe that an ENTIRE defense that is really good can make the difference. However, the Saints don't have a good foundation to have a good ENTIRE defense. We could select some defensive players in this draft, and we could improve from 14th to top ten, MAYBE. But if our offense is still turning the ball over the most times in the NFL, it doesn't matter how damn good our defense is. Would Pittsburgh have won without its defense? Probably not. BUT, would they have won if Big Ben hadn't played very well? Probably not. What I'm saying is, building your entire defense up can improve your defense a lot and help you win a lot of games. But you also have to realize that DRAFTING ONE PLAYER ON OFFENSE (QB), COULD MOVE OUR OFFENSE UP 15 TO 20 SPOTS IN THE OFFENSIVE RANKINGS. Like I said before, it's all about balance. Rarely do you see teams like the 2000 Ravens who can win the Super Bowl with NO offense and ALL defense. YOu have to have a good mixture of both. Right now the Saints have a pretty good defense and an AWFUL offense. If we drafted a QB, and then used the rest of the picks to address defense, we could have a GOOD offense and a really good defense too. |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
amen brotha deuce!!! preach it
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
I have been saying for awhile now that getting a QB in here is going to do nothing for us unless we build our line and D. We seriously need to trade down and get D and O-line help. So many people think Leinart is the answer but we will simply be right where we are, not in the playoffs. If you wanna QB then Young or trade down.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
So why get Young then? You just said getting a quarterback in here is going to do nothing for us. So many people think Young is the answer but we will simply be right where we are, not in the playoffs.
:poke:  |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
deuce pardon me the ravens d was unreal that year but less we forget the ravens actually had a decent o that year. not great. not an o that is coming from behind if they get down by 17 points but they were pretty good. they could move the ball
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
but i agree with your point 100%. no doubt you need offense too
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
No he has athletism... he can put the game on his back and single handedly win games there is a difference... between Young and Leinart. You can put weapons all around Leinart but when the chips are down, he isn't your man.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
also deuce if your d line is dominating they are going to make your line backers better. it all starts up front. as it does with chicago and the panthers who both have good d lines.
that said i am not an idiot and think you don't need talent anywhere else. but i would build a team starting wiht those two spots |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
right euph because of one game. and he needs noone else it is all vince. should just save the money then and pay only vince well and then just hire guys on the cheap that play the other positions because according to euph you only need vince young
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
you're totally missing the point... WHEN THE GAME IS ON THE LINE and second of all Young won a bowl game the previous year and is 2-0 in big games.
I am also in big favor of TRADING DOWN and not getting a QB. |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
...and that's going to get us into the playoffs?
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
A QB who can do anything and just make things happend will benefit us more than a QB who needs a lot of help. I'd rather trade down and build an offensive line and D than get Leinart.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
oh i thought leinart had won a few big games too. but i guess not. oh god i hope we don't pick vince and then i can watch him stink it up in the nfl and then ask ya whats that about vince
here come the bears |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
when the thinking that most of yall are going with... lets trade get Manning or Brady and we still won't be playing next week.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
well i haven't been big on matt either but i am for sure not big on vince i will beat you with my legs young
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
dude brady has three super bowls so please don't tell me how he isn't good or never one a big game
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
won even
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
trade for him and put no d or of line for him and you get where?
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
No I didn't miss the point... I just think you contradicted yourself.
You want us to win now and pass on a quarterback who you don't think will take us into the playoffs... yet you want Young because he's more athletic. Will he take us into the playoffs? Nope. |
RE: Defense Wins It Again
Who won two bowl games in a row? Not contradicting myself... Young is the better choice short term, and long term the better choice is to trade down.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
well euph you are 100% that without an o line or d you will be no where. um same with young too without those thing. what world do you live in that if you have a bad o line and a bad d one player will make all of that disappear. i have always said on here that this is a team game. one player doesn't win or lose the game. you are saying both arguments. you are saying on one hand that you need an entire team then turning around and saying that vince young won the game by himself against usc and that he will win by himself in the nfl. atlantas d stunk this year and look where they got with vick. 8-8.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
so I'll compromise and say the thing to do is trade down. How can anyone say that going after a number one QB is the way to go after this season. Rebuilding this team from the line out is what we should be heading towards. I am all for trading BRooks, Deuce, Horn everyone at this point and going after D and Oline players
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
well i like the idea of trading down euph. i wouldn't mind moving down to like 9 or 10 if we could get a first next year and a second and thrid this year. that would be cool
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
good... I can go along with that. I would like to unload some players that are salary heavy and not getting what they are worth from them. Get nothing but picks for hungry young players who we can develop. I am not all that crazy about getting a pick in next years draft though.
|
RE: Defense Wins It Again
i am actually with you. lets just do this thing over. unload some guys. a lot of guys. thomas, howard, craft (sorry euph), brooks, bouman, keep the young line backers, maybe even try to trade horn as much as i like the guy, sullivan if he is still under contract. that is me what do you guys think.
oh panthers just scored |
