As U can see I am NOT a Big fan!

I can't see what you are possibly basing this on. Look up Kitna's stats for the past few years and i am CERTAIN you will find he is more efficient than Brooks or Bouman.

What can u find that would prove that Kitna is one of the worst QBs in the league? Not liking the guy is one thing, but saying he's one of the worst QBs in the league just isn't true.

Oh wait...career QB rating of 75.3. Yep...bottom of the barrel there.

Hey man Fair enough comments.

To not drag this on and bring up multiple year stats etc, etc, we'll just use a short comparison base and move on.

Brooks on top and Kitna on the bottom. 2004 season

542 309 3810 57.0 7.0 21 3.9 16 3.0 57 41/223 79.5

104 61 623 5 8.7 6.0 5 4.8 4 3.8 30 6/41 75.9

I used 2004 because both teams finished 8-8.

Now I know Brooks played more etc etc, But the reason for my comments are not totally based on stats. As we all know from numerous threads on this site, stats can be argued for way too long and end up solving NOTHING!

As 2004 went both teams were pretty even BUT it is fair to say that Cinci was on the verge of taking it to the next level. In saying that it is fair to say that on this pace Kitna was going to have a terribble season with BETTER talent. If he couldn't keep the starting job there when they had a chance at a playoff birth, and now might not be around this year because the Bengals are willing to let him go in order to UPGRADE there backup position, Then why would I want him in N.O as a STARTER?

It comes down to confidence in the guy. I truly beleve that when Palmer went down Cinci was done! They had NO confidence in the QB and that showed for the rest of that game VS PIT.

Bottom line Brooks has some good carreer stats and has had some great seasons, Obviously stats mean squat to the players ( Or fans ) and it's the confidence that U have in your QB and the intangibles he brings to the table that determines the leadership qualities ON the field.

People here have had enough of Brooks , and I think brooks is a better QB then Kitna. People are always saying Brooks is garbage and is one of the worst QB's?? His stats say different but that doesn't change people's opinion here?

I have more confidence in Brooks then Kitna, That's my point.

My point was if u look at their stats they aren't far apart at all. In addition he was a great mentor to Carson Palmer, a young QB from USC that the Bengals aquired. Seeing as we seemed destined to grab a young QB from USC ourselves, it makes sense to grab someone like Kitna who will help bring the young kid along. I don't think Brooks has anything to teach a young QB but bad habits and how NOT to be a student of the game.

Kitna would just be a veteran qb mistake: Everet, Shula, Collins, Stabler, BJob Hobert, Blowjoe Tolliver, Blake, Walsh etc...

i just posted a pro-kitna article on my site. I think he'd be a very solid starter until Leinart's ready.

I agree in that aspect, but On the field Brooks could help more when he is on then Kitna could. If he struggles and we do draft Leinhart, then let him play amd see what he does. When it comes to mentoring, If that would be the route we choose to go, then I thought Warner did a good Job in arizona when Sidelined.

I am also in the school of thought that someone else metioned and that's, You have a coaching staff and a QB coach for mentoring, Not the Back up QB. In my opinion the backup SHOULD want to be the starter and that he will push the starter to be GREAT or else risk losing his JOB, Something that Brooks never seemed worried about. Maybe we should go down that road instead?
