You can stop with the Leinart pulling an Eli BS now.

Quote:

One concern the Saints don't have, at least from the viewpoint of Leinart's agent, Leigh Steinberg, is Leinart trying to avoid being taken by a franchise whose future beyond 2006 is in doubt, much as Eli Manning did with the San Diego Chargers in 2004 when he, in effect, forced a trade to the Giants.

"That's not going to happen with Matt Leinart," Steinberg said. "New Orleans is a classic city with a wonderful heritage, which I am sure will rebuild.
Quote:

"What we know of Sean Payton is very positive, and the Saints are a team with some pretty terrific offensive weapons. If New Orleans is interested in Matt, then I am sure Matt will be interested in them."
From the Times Picayune article entitled Saints passing on QB situation for now by Ted Lewis.

Look for a new angle now haters.

TallySaint 01-19-2006 11:54 AM

Thanks for the post, whodi.

I was one who brought up the possibility of Leinart or another top pick snubbing New Orleans. I'm not sure what your "haters" comment means. But to bring up that possibility certainly wasn't out of line or not worthy of consideration. To me, anyhoo.

Well i was never hating when i suggested that is what he might do. I was only reiterating what countless PTIs, Around the Horns, Chris Mortensons and John Claytons had suggested. It's kinda hard to ignore those guys when they deliver so often. That's good to hear though.

FanNJ 01-19-2006 12:33 PM

What good agent would make waves this early with the draft months out?? Just a question.

AllSaints 01-19-2006 03:47 PM

Matt Leinart ! YAY !

Winwin 01-19-2006 03:58 PM

that immature classless jerk, wasn't speaking that was his agent ala, drew rosenhaus and to...next question, next question, no next question. never heard lienfart say he wanted to come to new orleans did you??!!

BlackandBlue 01-19-2006 04:08 PM

Yeah, how dare agents speak for their players....

Winwin 01-19-2006 04:18 PM

what's with the new photo? i get the feeling of someone sensitive with the playful fingers.

She got that feeling too.

Hey winwin, i don't know why you are taking so many shots at Leinart's character. The guy made one comment immediately after the biggest game of his life. I bet you put any college kid in that situation and they say the same thing. You can pick apart anyones character if you want. What about vince young striking a mock heisman pose with the crystal ball after the game? Clearly that shows vince, during his greatest victory of his career was still upset about not winning the heisman, an individual award. What does that say about him? I don't think either guy is a bad guy, they just got carried away in the emotions of the game. In the end Leinart and Bush went to the texas locker room and congradulated the longhorns, why aren't you mentioning that? You can't judge a guy by one sentence, Leinart's a good guy and a smart choice for us with the 2nd pick

Good post. I was upset with Leinart's comments at first too, but the guy is human. Plus after the almighty Peyton Manning made similar comments, Leinart's comments don't seem as bad. WinWin just doesn't think we should draft anyone that will take AB's place.

spkb25 01-19-2006 06:04 PM

win win after the first game of the season you said brooks was going to be the mvp this year. ummmm. exactly bro

CheramieIII 01-19-2006 06:10 PM

Hey Whodi, what's his agent supposed to say. That if the Saints draft us we will pull and Eli and give his hand away. I think as it has been said before. Nobody's hatin just point out something that really could happen.

BlackandBlue 01-19-2006 10:02 PM

I believe the official stance from the Manning camp was, "We'll cross that bridge when we get there."

Exactly. Steinberg is coming out going out of his way and saying that Leinart doesn't have a problem playing for us. Huge difference.

Huge difference if you are trying to make some money. Guys wake up what else could he say until it actually happens.

I really believe he is a biatch anyway so it really doesn't matter!

AllSaints 01-20-2006 06:45 AM

Man yall quit trying to find ways to hate on Leinart....

CHACHING 01-20-2006 06:57 AM

Thanx Allsaints....some of these dudes are just hatin on Leinart cuz he went to SC..
It has nothing to do with his character...(winwin)...
Stall him out as he's most likely is comin to NO....(Thank God) 8)

gandhi1007 01-20-2006 09:41 AM

Well, you better learn to love him. According to early reports, unless someone gives us a "Ricky Williams" deal, Leinart will be a Saint!!!

"With the 2nd overall pick, the New Orleans Saints draft: Matt Leinart-QB USC"

zachsaints52 01-20-2006 09:44 AM

I dunno if I would want him anyways. I'd rather take something else in the first.... LB or Oline mostly... But you know my opinion of course :P

I like the sound of that :D

Tobias-Reiper 01-21-2006 10:27 AM

Leinart's choice of agent is a good one. Steinberg is not a media whore ala Rosenhaus or out of his mind like the Postons...

Hey AS, I don't think anyone trying to hate on Leinart just being real objective at this point. The cards may have been dealt but no one is going to show their hand until draft day.

LivnaLieTimay 01-21-2006 12:13 PM

I don't think Leinart's agent is bluffing. If he says Leinart will play for us then I believe him. I don't see how bluffing about Leinart pulling an Eli would help. I don't see how holding out until draft day would benefit Leinart. If he doesn't want to play for us, might aswell let us know now so we don't wind up drafting him then having trouble trading him and getting equal value

Well, if they are trying to hate on him, I guess I am not in that group. Just because he wouldn't be my choice at #2 I think he will be a good QB in the NFL.

nobody is hating on that wuss Lienfart. i hate his character though, he classless a crybaby quick to point the finger instead of taking the blame himself since he does play the qb position which is the leadership position. a good leader takes the blame for his commrades under him...not wienart though.

CHACHING 01-21-2006 04:14 PM

Kinda like Manning......

Winwin 01-21-2006 04:48 PM

that's a picture of a wuss above. a crybaby that can't take the blame for his own mistakes. don't blame the defense for you throwing the pick. what do you expect the defense to do when they are on the field for so long?

CHACHING 01-21-2006 04:50 PM

Uhhh.......Manning....

Yeah, but maybe if AB is still around he can mentor the guy and show him how a real pro is suppose to handle the media and say all the right things.

Regarding Leinart, I am not sure what he will actually do, but I am sure that no matter what his real plans are, there is no way that in January he is going to make an announcement saying he will not go to the Saints. By the time May rolls around he would be public enemy #1. I suspect we will see his true colors if and when the time comes. He can always bank on the Saints trading down for more picks and not have to pay huge signing bonuses, thus keeping him from ever having to show his true feelings. (That is if he is having any second thoughts about playing for the Saints...I personally have no idea what he's really thinking.)

AllSaints 01-23-2006 04:16 PM

Leinart haters.............

get use to matt leinart !!!!!! cuz we are taking him believe me.............

Hey LB, my thoughts exactly, I have said this a few times and some members still think since his agent didn't have to say it that he is telling the truth.

Let me ask everyone a question, when was the last time the devil or an agent said anything that was honest?

Yes and I put them both in the same group, at least you know the devil's being honest about trying to steal your soul!
