Leinart would be ready to join Saints if drafted by them

Heard today that Matt Leinart would come to N.O if they drafted him , he wouldn't dodge the Saints, good news because if he's the QB the Saints want it would make the deal that more sweet, I still hope they pick Young but of course Leinart would by my second pick in the first round..
There were rumors that he wouldn't come if the Saints drafted him

Heard it tonight on KLFY TV 10...Lafayette, LA

Just like I told Whodi in another thread today, what do you expect him to say at this point. If he says that he would not go to the Saints if drafted by them now it could really hurt his draft position in my opinion.

Hell if I was responsible to draft for any team I wouldn't want him if he said that 3 months before the draft. He would be labeled a problem child.

exactly, he did the promo chit 3 months prior to the draft, rather his agent did it for him. behind close doors is a different story. cause lienfart is a classless jerk, someone i never want to see in a saint uniform.

If he said he wouldn't play for the Saints if drafted wouldn't hurt him, in fact the Titans would be very happy to draft him and say thank you Matt, Titans would pick him up so fast that the Saints wouldn't know what they lost until the following day, sure didn't hurt Eli, at all.. come on dude we're talking about a QB that almost ever team in the NFL would kill for, if he was to talk to another team and ask them if he didn't play for the Saints if drafted would that affect them in drafting him if that team had the chance, what do you think the answer would be?

yeah, it would hurt him, that along with his childish immature way he acted after the national championship loss. nobody wants a qb that would quit on a team, and that's exactly what he'd be doing just like eli. and eli is still being hated for that 2years ago.

How in the hell can you hate a guy for his comments, ppl say dumb things all the time, hell I say something dumb everyday, I still have friend's, my wife never asked for a divorce before, not for saying something dumb anyway, if you hate sport players for what they said you never would watch sports, you would only watch TVLAND or some other channel like it, calm down, everything will be ok, I promise

You really don't think so, come on LTF you have some good opinions most of the time don't go off the deep end on us. No one is trying to hate on Leinart. I really believe the debate of Leinart, Young or Hawk "who to draft" is the most objective debate we have had in a while.

i guess you just recently joined, you don't know how trivial the ridicule level can go. hhhmmmm, i remember a qb getting ridiculed in here about what he said all the time, what was his name again???

As I said before, I want the Saints to draft Young, in my opinion I think he's the better of the two, Young would give us a better chance at winning faster compared to Leinart, maybe in the long run I'd give the edge to Leinart, now if the Saints were to draft Leinart I still would be happy with their choice, I don't think a fan could hate Young or Leinart if drafted by the Saints, not at first anyway, maybe if they play as Brooks did..
I really don't hate anyone of these guys, I'd take either one of them everyday of the week to play for the Saints.

You guys can't really think that either one can start next year and make it a successful year for the Saints!

Don't be stupid, at least not at this site!

If Leinart's agent is saying that he wouldn't have a problem coming to N.O. then i believe him. I believe if they didn't want N.O. to draft him they would make it known or not say anything. What is the difference in saying it now or 2 months from now??? He won't gain anything by dropping that bomb on the Saints the day before the draft. This is quite different from the Eli Manning situation. I believe if Eli Manning knew in January the Chargers were gonna draft him, he would have spoken up then. I take Leinart and Steinberg at their word until they prove otherwise. TEAMS are the ones that lie during draft time, not agents.

I for one don't think Leinart or Young can start next season and be successful but that doesn't mean that they won't get the start, hopefully we can have a veteran QB to hang around for a season, could that QB be Brooks?, we shall soon see.

RE: Leinart would be ready to join Saints if drafted by them

With Payton's hiring as head coach, you can ALMOST bank on Leinart or Young being drafted by the Saints. Forget all that talk about trading down for more picks to get Hawk or anyone else. New coach is going to want a QB. IMO, Leinart fits the mold better than Young for Payton's style. Look at his 3 QB's that passed for over 3,000 yards: Carter, Testeverde, and Bledsoe. Pocket passers. Leinart should be a Saints come April, but stranger things have happened.

RE: Leinart would be ready to join Saints if drafted by them

All this talk about Leinart's post game comments. Did anyone watch Young's? This guy walked around screaming "Who's the real Heismann?" taunting USC fans. Also, it takes a big man after a defeat to go into the other team's locker room & congratulate them the way Matt Leinart did. And he's "classless"? Look, being an LSU fan, it's hard to like Leinart, but the guy is a class act. So what if he doesn't like losing. We need that in a QB on this roster.

By the way, the comments Leinart made about his defense in that game were true. He only candy-coated it. That defense stunk up the joint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With his bum knee and mild concussions he has sustained how long will he last behind the Saints line before going Merrle Hodge? What player or agent for that matter would tip there hat with draft day so far out, and risk moving down the boards?

RE: Leinart would be ready to join Saints if drafted by them

If we were to go QB with the early pick I would take Young but its not the best way to go because it doesn't matter who is at QB we suck. I think Young has the better chance at being succsessfull in NO than Leinart. I'd much rather trade down and build out line and D.

Yes, and I remember a guy who would defend said qb all the time, regardless of what took place. What was his name again????

i wouldn't mind Matt at all, although i would Rather Vince. One point is that Vince won't be able to start right away due to Mechanics and we run other formation than the Shotgun in the NFL. Vince long-term would be a bettter pick, but who want to wait to win?

notice how now, the defense is from other people involving a different qb. a qb, the leader of his team never calls out his teammates are a certain section of his team publicly. you don't point the finger in public regardless of fault...

how about scoring more points than your opponent, whatever happened to that? wasn't that the outcry for all the weapons at brooks's disposal? the turnover lienfart had, just like brooks...more weapons on offense than the other team saints/ versus anybody, usc/ versus texas.

LOL- same lame arguments, BoB. It's like you're not even trying anymore.

Lienart loses to Texas, and manages to still score twice as many points per game than Brooks. :stupid:

winwin,
peyton manning made negative comments towards his teammates in the immediate heat of a tough loss. if the saints had an opportunity to get peyton with our 2nd pick this year should they do it?

of course! i am not sure if you have ever competed in a sport in your life, but if you have(especially a really emotional one infront of a lot of people) you would understand what it might be like if you just lost a REALLY big game, they put a bunch of cameras in your face and started asking the same question over and over again until you said something controversial.

get off your high horse and try making some half way intelligent arguments.
