Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins QB Gus Frerotte might not be with the team for the 2006 season due to the expected departure of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to the St. Louis Rams. Frerotte was often praised for his knowledge of Linehan's system, but the loss of that advantage may cause the Dolphins to go a different route at quarterback.

The Toledo Blade reports Bowling Green junior QB Omar Jacobs has signed with a sports agent and is working out in California in preparation for the NFL Draft. Spiro Pettas of Athletes First says the agency is providing housing and a car for Jacobs, as well as coordinating his workouts with various coaches and trainers.

jacobs isn't a bad qb, but i think he is too similar to AMac. weither we get a veteren FA or a rookie qb, i want someone who can start next year.

Cherm, have you been hitting the cold DIXIE early? One is DOA and the other is no better then Amac...IMHO.

OK I don't care if he headbutted yo momma, Phins wouldn't have won as many games as they did without him and if you want someone that will start next season name him and don't just throw out that you think Leinart can do it, give us someone you think can actually start, BECAUSE LEINART WON'T FOR ANY TEAM.

I have an idea about a QB, not too much info on him, but Brad Smith from Mizzou? I remember watching a play with them this year, he threw a 40 yard DART which his WR dropped in the endzone. Most beauitful pass I ever saw. Whats the deal with Smith? Thanks

yes chermie,
i don't think we have to win more then 8 games to be successful next year, but to answer your question...big ben was successful starting as a rookie. now he didn't start the first few games, but he did perform well in his rookie year. (i said all this before in a previous post...just scroll up...hahaha)

Come on 25, the last few games of the season he didn't make mistakes and was average at best but isn't that what we need.

we definitely don't want frerotte... jacobs would be interesting, but i think if you are going to pass on leinart/young with the first pick and draft a qb in the 2nd rd., then go after a smart quarterback that knows how to manage the game or go after a young veteran, like schaub or simms... i also wouldn't be opposed to trying to get harrington, whom i feel is an offensive line away from being a really good quarterback in this league
