Don't like Leinart, Young, Manning, etc. for comments while they're on a high or frustrated after a game? Try to get over it. It's football, not tiddlywinks. They have a passion for the game and winning.

The ones you oughta be concerned about, if any, are those known for being self-serving all the time.

Peyton makes a comment or two (probably true) in a post-game press conference and he's a T.O.?

Hate to tell ya. But many, if not most, NFL players are arseholes and think very highly of themselves.

I think what these guys did is very acceptable. We did nothing but criticize Brooks for smiling and smoking and joking on the sideline. Now a lot of people are doing the same type of criticizing for actions on the other half of the spectrum. What do we want a mellow pot smoking Hippie.

I'd love to see Ricky Williams in Black and Gold.

..it's all part of the canonization of sports heroes...

..we like our public figures, specially our sports heroes, be holy, to always say and do "the right thing",
Even though they may or may not believe a single word that's coming out of their mouths, as long as it sounds "right", we eat it up...
Words like "class" and "respect" are tossed around like dice on a craps table...

... fortunately, after football season is over, I can fully direct my sports attention to the Mexican Soccer league, where I see the players play, but I don't have to hear them talk....

... now don't bunch up Brooks' comments or actions with those of Manning or Leinart... they are much different situations... one thing is to say something out of frustration 10 minutes after losing a big game, another is, well, Brooks :)

I agree Tally, that's what I have been saying also, I could care less what they say on or off the field just as long as they play well and help their team to win, now when a player begins to criticize their team and coaches on TV that's where I have a problem, if said behind closed doors that I don't have a problem with, I could never understand why some fans talked so much about Brooks smiling during a game, didn't make sense to me, it wasn't his mouth that caused him to play so poorly, he's just doesn't play smart football, shame to because he has a gun for the long ball

.. because he was grinnin'n'chillin' when his team was getting the snot beat out of them, instead of looking at polariods and showing some semblance of leadership and professionalism...

..hey if you are 28-0 ahead in the 4th, grin all you want... when you are 0-21 down staring the second half, you better show some fire, especially if you are the QB..

I have to ask this... do you really think that just because Brooks would smile sometimes after a bad play that he really didn't care? C'mon guys... I'm not here to butter up his mistakes but.... is it wrong for a man to shake off what is a bad moment in a game? Does it make him a criminal for tryin to feel better about a bad situation? Just askin...
