Un-Official QB Flame Argument - Episode XV

So I'm thinking... I know, I know, we just had a hurricane, why would I add to the chaos by thinking... The truth is, it is because I am not a very nice person. Now shut up and listen for a sec...

Rohan Davey!

Whatta ya think? SEC Championships and Sugar Bowl wins under Saban with LSU... A few years spent studying under Bellichick, watching a team prepare for and win Super Bowls... Studying under Tom Brady...

And isnt he out of football this year?

Whatta ya think?

I believe he had only one Sugar Bowl win - 2002. He was in the NFL the year LSU won the National Title.

And, actually, he is currently signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

And he sucks

gfanaticlsu 01-27-2006 10:27 AM

I am an LSU alumni. I was there when Rohan was there and we won the SEC and Sugar Bowl and I was there when we won the National Championship after he left. I wasnt' a big fan of him the whole time he was at LSU, acutally I hated him, but He did win the MVP in NFL Europe. That has to stand for something. I mean Jake Delhomme was a NFLE superstar and he didn't become an NFL star until after someone gave him a shot . Soooooooo Maybe Rohan is a star in the making. All he needs is a chance.
I have checked the LSU website recently to see if Rohan was with any teams and it shows him as a FA. So maybe we can pick him up and at least give him a chance to make the roster during training camp. He could be a valuabe back up and aren't we looking for one of those too because we know Bouman isn't much and he is old also. Rohan could be another Jake if we give hime a shot.

According to the NFL's "official website", he is still listed with the Cardinals, for the time being.

Davey couldn't beat 73 year old Doug Flutie for #2...

Rohan was caught in a tough spot in New England last year. When the Patriots signed Flutie, everyone knew he was going to get a roster spot. He was going to retire with the team that brought him into the league. That left one more spot to fill. Flutie was in the NFL for years and had playoff experiance, so there was no need for another veteran. Plus, going with Cassell for the third spot saved the team some money.

No thanks I will pass on Rohan....

jrmllb 01-29-2006 02:36 PM

I think he has potential but I say pass on Davey...He'll get a shot in camp with the Card's...

How about this? Craig Nall, I know I have said it before, former LSU player that got caught in a jam with CURLY the JackA$$, Booty (couldn't see over the line), and davey (no mobility), so he left LSU went to NSU and broke all their single season passing records in one season and missed one game...He has been with the packers for 4 seasons and has studied under Favre, when he has played he played well...he got screwed this year when they drafted Rogers...and he's rumored to be looking for a chance to compete...He knows the West Coast system, has the long ball arm, and is hungey to compete...

spkb25 01-29-2006 04:01 PM

i think he has a great name and should go to another nation where he could gain power and then lead his army into several other nations in an attempt to rule the world

LongTimeFan 01-29-2006 05:45 PM

No thanks, we need to go forward , not backwards, but I sure loved him when he played for the Tigers, he accomplished a ton while playing for the Tigers, I personally don't think he's NFL material accept maybe as a backup, I wouldn't want him though as a backup for the Saints, I'm looking to see leadership brought in as a backup being we'll have a very young qb next year.
Kurt Warner comes to mind.

CheramieIII 01-29-2006 05:59 PM

Kitna, Collins, Ferotte, Volek and Schaub all sound ok to me but I guess only time will tell.

wheelman 01-29-2006 06:22 PM

I would love to get Volek too, Cher. Unfortunately we have no chance at getting him. Like you said in another thread, there is a reason why the Titans have held on to him for so long.

LongTimeFan 01-29-2006 06:48 PM

Schaub would be a big plus if would get him, I guess the chances are slim, hell I'd use him as a starter, if the Falcon's had any sense at all so would they.
The guy is just that good.

spkb25 01-29-2006 06:59 PM

chances are slim but i like a lot mof the names cherm has put out as a qb for the time being

Kitna? Probably won't happen. I just don't seeing him going anywhere, especially with Palmer's uncertain future. I don't see why Cincy would want to let him go, he's a very good QB for a backup who can start when needed and do a good job.

Collins? He sucks. He's on the downhill side of his career, and I don't want him in N.O. again.

Gus Frerotte? Is that a joke?

Billy Volek? I guess I wouldn't mind, but I don't want a guy who is asking for big-time money who can't beat out Steve McNair for a starting job. I would rather have a young franchise QB that we can build this team around. Volek has proved NOTHING. Why the enfatutation?

Schaub? Never gonna happen. Falcons know this guy is great. They're not going to let a division rival get their hands on him. But I would like to have him.

No, the last 8 games of the season he threw 10 TD's and 4 int's, only lost 1 fumble, a completion rate of 50%, threw for 186 yards a game, and the most important stat of all his team went 6-2 down the stretch. No it wasn't a joke and you can check the stats I got them from NFL.com. The guy doesn't make mistakes in clutch situations, period. I almost forgot to mention Griese too or Harrington would not mind having either one of them.

Come on Deuce I know you have something to say.

TheDeuce 01-30-2006 01:15 AM

Unreal Cher, unreal. The guy completes 50% of his passes and you want him on this team???? Hell, AB did better than that! Why would you want a bad QB on the team? It just doesn't make sense to me.

threw for 186 yards a game,
Am I supposed to be impressed?

Quote:

Mostly because the Dolphins coaching staff took the game out of his hands and gave it to two very talented RBs (Ronnie Brown and Ricky), and then let their D do the rest. But they didn't go to the playoffs, and one of those games was against the Saints. So no, I'm not impressed by Gus.

Quote:

Griese? An older guy who just tore his ACL? No thanks. Young guys have a lot of trouble coming back from that kind of injury, I don't even want to bother with an aging Griese.

Harrington? Maybe. I think he's good, but he's shown he's not a very good leader, and I don't think he's what this team needs?

The point is, some of these guys could come in and do enough to get by... but drafting a franchise QB with a #2 overall pick could solve this QB problem for years. Besides, none of those guys you mentioned have the potential to be a top 5 QB in the league. Leinart and maybe even Young do. Period.
