Sources say they didn't show due to lack of money, sources also say that Montana wanted at least $100,000 for him to attend the MVP ceremony, if true I take back every good word I said about Montana, it should have been a privlige to be with the rest of the MVP's last night.

I agree LTF, I'm glad I didn't buy that Montana throwback and I definitely won't buy a Bradshaw now.

Sad part about these two are that both of them were good for the game of football, the league was going to pay their flights, hotel, food, $1000 cash plus they would have been at the game with great seats for free, I'm sure both of them would have gotten a standing ovation, now the only thing they'll get is a turn of the shoulder from some of their former fans.

Yeah, when I heard that I was shocked. I've always thought of Montana and Bradshaw as good guys but this changes my opinion on them. This bring's greed to a whole new level. It is an honor to be part of a ceremony like the one the nfl put on before this years superbowl and I'm surprised these two guys would not participate because of money. I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who wouldn't do this for FREE, never-the-less 1000 bucks plus hotel, airfare, food and more! I'm real dissapointed in these 2 guys

ESPN.com reports former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw turned down his invitation to Super Bowl XL over money, according to Newsday and the San Francisco Chronicle. The NFL invited the Super Bowl MVPs from the previous 39 Super Bowls, but Bradshaw was one of three not in attendance. The former MVPs were given $1,000 for incidental expenses while in Detroit, along with other amenities such as tickets to the game, car rentals, and plane tickets. Bradshaw denied the report that the dispute was over money, claiming he wanted to spend time with his family.

Bradshaw's relationship with the Pittsburgh fans has never been good, even when the Steelers were winning SB's. I can see why he wouldn't attend.

I haven't seen any evidence supporting the idea that Bradshaw did not attend due to financial issues. He has just wrapped up filming a movie and also another season on Fox NFL, which did not have the Super Bowl this year, so he was afforded an extra couple of weeks off. Can you blame the guy for wanting to spend time with family? There is nothing to suggest that it was anything other than that. It would be like spending your vacation at work, rather than with family.

...now that you mention it, there may be some issues with Bradshaw being a Fox analyst appearing on an ABC broadcast? You never know...

According to ESPN, Montana said he declined because he promised his kids that he would be home. The guy gave his all to this sport, let him retire and enjoy his time with his family. Maybe the "money issue" was just an easy excuse to use - or maybe that's what the media wanted us to think.

Even if Montana didn't think it was enough money, who cares? He has no more obligations to us fans. Let him retire.
