Hmmmm....intruiging....but worth it?

RE: For all you La Roi (g)Lovers
For the right price. Glover would be worth it he still plays at a high level. We now have a Dallas Connection in NO............We'll see what unfolds.

plenty of one year deals possible and some of them at "cut rate" bargains. Maybe he'll bite on one. Better an over the hill LeRoi than Sully.
|
RE: For all you La Roi (g)Lovers
xan, don't look for as many "cut rate" deals as you might think. The maximun raise for 2007 (the uncapped year) is 30%. So there will be very few players willing to go the high signing bonus low pay route of former years.

RE: For all you La Roi (g)Lovers
I doubt that owners would be willing to sign a long term contract without a collective bargaining agreement in place, which means that there will be a lot of 1 year contracts, and would have NO signing bonus. Given that the salary cap is 94.+ instead of 105+, there isn't going to be much room to sign FA's this offseason in addition to the draft choices. Veteran players who want to play will have to take a pay cut or sit out, and that damages their earning power. Supply is starting to saturate demand, which lowers prices. Players are staying healthier longer and there is more depth, also putting downward pressure on veterans' salaries.
In sum, basic economics and circumstance would point to many 1 year contracts at reduced prices for FA's in 2006. |

wouldn't mind glover at all, but only fora short-term contract.

RE: For all you La Roi (g)Lovers
Agreed... he isn't the star he was but he's still a solid DT. When Ferguson went down, it was Glover to started for them. He still has gas left in that tank and I wouldn't mind having him here for a season or two. Maybe he'll be able to teach Sully what hard work is all about... get his mind right.

bro i see it like this. this whole damn thing is a mess. thank god we aren't in terrible terrible trouble. all these vets out of work and someone is going to grab upshaw and smack his hiny. my bet, upshaw is getting death threats by mid season.

Rams signed DT La'Roi Glover to a three-year contract.
Glover played under Jim Haslett in New Orleans and can be a veteran leader for the underachieving Rams D-line. St. Louis got in trouble signing aging linebackers last year, but this deal makes a lot of sense in the short term if the numbers are fair. Mar. 6 - 6:08 pm et Guess he's off the market... and with Haslett. |
Makes you wonder WHO was responsible for letting him get away to begin with. Another win for our FO.
|
Hasbeen let him go the first time which was a mistake and now he is making another mistake several years later by thinking that he can get the same player he got rid of, NEVER HAPPEN.
|
I'm just thinking about how clever the title was.
