here's a little more on the brees saga from the herald

Miami took steps toward that resolution late Friday when the team contacted Brees' agent, Tom Condon, to set up a Saturday breakfast meeting. The Dolphins knew Brees was scheduled to meet with the Saints on Saturday afternoon and part of today and wanted to get at the head of the line.

So Saban and general manager Randy Mueller boarded club owner Wayne Huizenga's private jet and flew to Birmingham, Ala., where Brees has been rehabilitating his throwing shoulder after surgery to repair a partially torn rotator cuff and labrum.

`VERY IMPRESSED'

''Drew had a conversation with the coach for a couple of hours, and he came away very impressed,'' Condon said. ``He's still going to New Orleans, and if something doesn't get done in New Orleans, his next trip is to Miami late Sunday and Monday.''

After their meeting with Brees, the Dolphins' contingent flew to visit at least one other potential free agent, according to NFL sources. But it is unclear which player, or players.

But in the Brees instance, at least, Miami's aggressive approach apparently was more style than substance. According to sources, the Dolphins outlined for Brees a contract that included between $5 million and $7 million in guaranteed money.

Condon and the Saints already had discussed the parameters of a deal that included between $8 million and $10 million in guaranteed money.

The Dolphins must decide if they wish to risk paying more for a quarterback who has admitted that, in a worst-case scenario, he might not play next season. That answer will come soon, because Brees likely will either sign with the Saints or move on to the Dolphins.

The Saints seem to be the front-runner for Brees, because the Dolphins didn't seem eager to improve their offer Saturday night.

The club and Condon did not talk after their initial morning conversations.

SHIFT IN INTEREST?

That could be an indication the team shifted its focus to Culpepper, who has significant injury issues of his own.

Culpepper, who has asked to be traded in part because he clashes with new Vikings coach Brad Childress, played poorly last season before tearing three ligaments in his right knee Oct. 30.

Despite this and the fact Culpepper might not be ready to play the first two months of the regular season, the Dolphins have held ongoing talks with the Vikings and seemed to be the team most able to make a deal as of Saturday night after Oakland and Tennessee exited the talks.

The Vikings had been seeking a second-round pick for Culpepper but seem prepared to take a third-rounder.

Looks like the Miami Herald is showing that they do not want Miami to get Bress. Why do big name papers think that people are to stupid to see their bias. That statement from Bress was stated months ago, and the word now is that he is flying through his rehab. Anyone else see the bias there? Nice find though!
