Before he left for New Orleans, Mueller and Dolphins coach Nick Saban took one of team owner H. Wayne Huizenga's private airplanes to meet with Brees in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday morning. "I'm evaluating all of my options and I want to make sure that I give everything the chance that it deserves," Brees said Sunday in New Orleans after meeting with Saints officials. "I'm really just taking in a lot of information right now. "I'm not going to rush it because this is a big decision. Wherever I sign is where I plan on spending the rest of my career and winning a few championships in the process and raising a family and everything else. It's more than just a one-year thing" Brees is regarded as the top quarterback on the free-agent market, but the Dolphins also are considering pursuing a trade for Minnesota's Daunte Culpepper. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/f...dolphins-front |

............ gosh....... we need to do something.....

RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the delay
right and um if we don't sign him who else do we have so far? just wondering maybe i missed something. we have signed who?
|
RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the delay
said what man?
|
RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the delay
I would NOT be shocked that if Brees signs with the Dolphins, that the Saints don't focus their attention on Culpepper with their 2nd rounder and then trading down in the draft for more picks. This is the scenario that scares me the most. Culpepper proved he wasn't that great without a Randy Moss on the receiving end.

im so mad right know............

RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the delay
Please! No Culpepper!!! I hate to say it but I'd rather see AB back there... Culpepper looked horrible before he got injured... uggh!!!
|
RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the delay
Now Culpepper would be the WRONG QB to bring to NO. He can't keep his act together in Minny...what makes you think he'll behave in NO.....that would be a catastrophic mistake.
If Brees gets away from us, it's gotta be Leinart for sure. |
RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the delay
Absolutley GoldRush...If we cant get Brees we get Leinart and maybe sign someone like McCown or Nall to replace Bouman...Both of those guys would be an awesome upgrade at the backup spot...

I totally agree. Again, Not Culpepper |

i think everything hinges on where Brees' signs. if, for some reason, he decides to sign with the Saints, we will have traded out of that #2 spot by draft day. and you of all people don't want that to happen, given you threw your lot with Lienart a long time ago. |
RE: Re: RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the d
It's one are the other, I'd take a proven Brees over a drafted, young QB, Brees is only 27 and has NFL experience.

I agree. Exp. at QB...trade down and acquire a ton of picks for that number 2 spot. Things would really look nice.

RE: Re: RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the d
if someone is willing to give up the farm for the #2......
|
RE: Re: RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the d
Well if not the farm...a few acres would be a hell of a lot considering all of our needs. ;0)

RE: Re: RE: despite my ramblings this might be part of the d
Arizona, Oakland (if the Culpepper deal falls through), Minnesota (if the Culpepper deal goes through), Miami, Buffalo, Jets, Dallas, or Detroit would all be viable partners, with Denver and K.C. being outside shots.
Outside of additional draft picks, maybe some players that could be thrown into the deal as well, that makes sense. Bryant Johnson Darryl Blackstock Lance Mitchell Ronald Curry Manuel Wright Jerricho Cotchery Kevin Burnett Charles Rogers (can't believe I'm saying this, but we might be able to get him cheap) Stanley Wilson Shaun Cody small list of players that could be included in a trade for the #2, that I think could come in and benefit this team. |
