Several teams looking to trade up, down
It look like the jets will get Dewayne Robertson, unless the patriots give the texans a sweet deal. :D

Yup, and if the Saints really want Newman, they better get on the phone with the Texans as well.

Okay fellas, I\'ve changed my mind about not trading our two firsts to pick somebody up in the top ten. The more I read about the lack of talent in this years draft the more I want to get Smoot and trade 17 & 18 for Newman, Trufant, or even Robertson. What do you think of Smoot, Rusta? :)

I will pick Dewayne Robertson if the saints are able to trade with the texans and pick up smoot

I know that the Lions are interested in trading down also. They want a wide receiver but they also need help everywhere else except maybe QB. I\'m sure that the Saints won\'t get the second overall pick, but it\'s a possibility for the Patriots. Mooch is looking for more picks. Just another possibility.

Don\'t get caught up in the hype boys. Think about it like this. The teams in the top ten have the most holes (at least that\'s the way it should be in theory). So, if the talent pool is so terrible, why are they all willing to move down into \"no-man\'s land\" for two picks? The Saints have a lot of holes on defense. Our talent scouts are the best they\'ve ever been. LeCharles Bentley was our second round pick last year and we may have gotten the best value out of him. He may have been the best rookie on our squad. Also, don\'t forget that we got Mitchell and Craver even later. Mitchell is supposedly a starter and the coaching staff kept talking about Craver starting last year regardless of if and when Carter came back before he got hurt. There\'s plenty of talent and I, for one, remain dedicated to the trade down idea and pick up as many players in the first three rounds as possible... including Smoot if that deal is real.

It seems like the smoot deal is off the table. I will be open to trade up if it was any chance to get dewayne robertson, however they\'re no chance on that. I agree the saints should be open for trade down.

The only two impact player it seems for the saints to trade up for are Robertson or Newman and they both wil take more than our two number 1\'s to get to. So you are looking at one player for three maybe even four other players. That is too much.

Weehoo, I think this is the first time that I have been in 100% agreement with my penny-pinching friend, here. Now, excuse me while I go to my minister and pray for my health, that the Jets pickup one of the few players they want. :D

Gator, I think you may be going a little far with your estimation of the talent. You\'re dropping off talent at a rate than means players selected in the second half of this year\'s third round normally wouldn\'t even be drafted. That\'s ridiculous. I think most analysts are saying that the TOP talent is not as deep as usual. So a normal mid third rounder may be selected in this year\'s lat second round... not a normal 7th rounder will be taken in the late 3rd round. C\'mon. Now you guys are just taking this too far.
I mean, by your logic Craver is an early second rounder this year. Bentley goes at number 15. That\'s ridiculous. Listen to yourself. The talent is not as deep as previous years, but it\'s not exponentially worse. If that\'s the case maybe I\'ll go declare myself elligible. I could be the Saints 7th round pick the way you\'re talking. |

PS... I see it like this..
Tier 1 Normally 1-20 This year 1-10 Tier 2 Normally 20-40 This year 10-30 Tier 3 Normally 40-80 This Year 30-70 etc, etc, etc. |

It\'s probably true that there are only 13-15 players with first round talent. Not so sure that they will be taken with the picks #1-15. I expect the first round to be pretty wild, not only with trades, but also with the players selected. And suddenly some good players just fall to you. The big wildcard to me is Jimmy Kennedy. While Robertson and some others have produced some buzz, the only thing you hear about Kennedy, who had been the number 1 ranked DT until two weeks ago, is a reluctance to select him. Minnesota may take him, but they are not very excited about it. With his slide, some of the other DTs could slide as well.
