draft order...........

ok, here's the thing.......while the saints have put a monkey wrench in the order for now, who's to say the texan's won't do the same? by trading out of the first spot, there could really be some wheeling and dealing going on......i just read on kffl that the jets have or or trying to get ramsey.....now, this may be a back up, but he does have nfl experience.......
kinda makes me wonder who at the bottom of the barrel is gonna come forth and throw more wrenches in this draft.........i would not be surprised to see dallas try and move up either. smitty

Let's play a game. I'll call it, "Name the Trading Partner"- who do you think will buck up and present the best trade scenario to the Saints for the 2nd overall pick.

My vote goes to................Arizona

i think the saints will opt out of the 2nd pick.............benson's having heart problems now....
is that your pick because they have the most money to spend?
i like the idea of getting more draft picks now, a little bit down, even a lot more down because of depth and need........arizona could easily go to the #1 with a trade also........
so, because of this, i'll say anyone but arizona........just to pee you off.................smitty

lol, thanks

i picked Arizona, because they have a need, and it does help that they have some money to play with.

well let's see, they could pick up aaron today and their qb problem is solved, lmao........
but to play fair, i will pick dallas, just because bill needs to help his student.............no other reason...................................smitty

Tennessee. Talk about needing help!

BlackandBlue 03-15-2006 09:37 PM

not so fast, oh wise one. they're not bad....

ScottBalot 03-15-2006 09:46 PM

Oakland or Arizona

LKelley67 03-15-2006 10:02 PM

it has to be someone who wants leinart i believe.

packers have a future qb and zona has to win now with warner n james.

swap with the jets is easiest cuz of the lesser compensation needed to move up 2 spots and the high impact player that would still be available to NO. ditto titans if they wanna guarantee leinart from a jet leapfrog.

below that, i think oakland or detroit are the most likely suitors that could come to a deal.

oakland has a history of bold moves. #7 and #38 would get them close. throw in a player and maybe it could work. remember andrew walter from last year? he is the same reason it seems less likely, already committed to a 2nd rounder for the future. is it just me, or does that organization seem in more disarray every season?

the word is that harrington is as good as gone in detroit. kitna is there, is perfectly competent, and has no beef with mentoring someone behind him. i dunno who i would want in addition to their #9 and 40. maybe a 2007 first. biggest detriment to this deal happening- pressure on millen to win this season or he is gone.

dulplay 03-15-2006 10:02 PM

Howza bout Detroit? I saw where they picked up Kitna and Harrington wants out... but we'd likely miss out on Brick and Hawk at #9... so nevermind.

TheDeuce 03-15-2006 10:07 PM

Oakland, Tennessee, or NYJ. All contestants for Leinart sweepstakes.

yeah, i'm talkin to you. :P

the only man i know that pulls more cutter than myself. everytime i see you, man, you're snuggled up next to some young hottie- what's the secret???

Dhatboi 03-16-2006 07:46 AM

I dont believe anybody out of the top 5 picks would come and trade with new orleans due to the top money that goes along with the 2nd overall pick...but now arizona who has all that cap room will maybe but not many other teams.............

JOESAM2002 03-16-2006 07:48 AM

Rather large testi.......oops! CAn I say that on here? And a few bucks certainly doesn't hurt. Open up your wallet and there they are! But, close that sucker up and see what happens!

... don't be surprised if it is Cleveland... they have made the biggest noise this FA period, and don't have a bona fide QB, so they may be willing to part with some picks... Frye played some good games last year, but I don't think you can label him a franchise QB... the only issue with such a trade, is that the Saints would miss on Hawk or Ferguson, since Cleveland is picking 12....

Sure but we can also trade back up too.

saintswhodi 03-16-2006 08:52 AM

I would not mind a trade down to twelve, just for the sheer number of picks it would require to do it. And at 12, we are looking at possibly Ngata, Greenway, Ryans. So there are some very good players that will still help immediately at 12, while we would gain extra picks for the second and third round this year, and prob a first and second next year. I don't think we are at a one year turn around, although we should improve. But having an extra first and second next year could have us very VERY competitive year after next. And for a while to come.

FatiusJeebs 03-16-2006 09:00 AM

Ya know.....I think we really need to cover our butts....where if available do you think addai will get picked up? As much as I like the whole Hawk-Brick issue....we may need some help at the RB psotion. What do u guys think?

LKelley67 03-16-2006 09:20 AM

if we pick sign more FAs maybe so. otherwise the other needs on D and O line are too great. i think smith and stecker are actually a good back up pair. i bet many did not notice they had over a thousand yds rushing between them. smith at 4.0 ypc i thought looked fresher than deuce when he came in. stecker has good hands as a 3rd down back and tho not a barnburner can return kicks when needed.

addai is moving up the charts too. he could easily be in the first round now. LSU north with faulk would be no surprise.

LivnaLieTimay 03-16-2006 09:47 AM

I'm going to take Oakland on this one. They have a need for a qb and we should still be able to get a player like Hawk, Davis (who I really like and would give Brees a Gates-like TE), or Brick

are you kidding me? Romeo has already cast his lot with Frye, and deservedly so, the kid can play. they're not looking for another franchise QB.....trust me, I will bet alot of money that Frye will be the starter for many, many years in Cleveland.

RE: Re: RE: draft order...........

I said Oakland is the most likely team to trade with us, but I do think in the end we're going to be stuck at #2. As I said in another post, the only way a team trades up is to get Leinart. The Texans want to trade down for more picks. The only way to guarantee you will get Leinart is to trade up to #1. In the end, I see the a team trading up to #1 to take Leinart and the interest in our pick is gone.

GoldRush26 03-16-2006 11:35 AM

They had a segment on the NFL network about this whole scenario. It would take the Jets to give us their second and third picks to swap at the #4 spot, so you can imagine what it would take anyone lower than the Jets pick to move up. Besides if they trade out any lower than #6 they better be getting a player in addition to everything else.

This is so not true. Teams would be banging down the doors to have an opportunity to pick Reggie Bush....probably MORESO. We still hold a lot of power in this draft....either way. They can't pick Leinart AND Bush with the first pick. So we can either pick Bush ourselves or trade to someone who's dying for a gamebreaker. Still an enviable position to be in, in my opinion.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: draft order...........

At number 2 we are in great position regardless. Would I love to see the Jets scenerio. Yes Means more early value. No is in a great position. No trade then take the best player on the board.

At this point I don't want to debate that because we all have our own opinions on that, but in this draft the first 10 off the board should be legitimate players.
