Cornerback
We still need a cornerback to play with MM. Who is out there that we could bring in to fill that spot. I like Fred Thomas but lets face it he does not have much left
|
RE: Cornerback
We can't afford to have Fred playing with us this coming season, I'm happy with MM though, at least for another season.
|
RE: Cornerback
Don't forget when we had the best linebackers in the league (Jackson, Mills, Vaughn) we had nobodies at the cornerback position. If teams get shut down on the run and can get outside then you can have the slowest guys in the world as long as they know how to cover.
|
RE: Cornerback
Well then get us a Jackson, a Mills and a Vaughn Johnson and I'll be one happy camper. (smile)
Whatever happen to Dale Carter, who did he play for last? |
RE: Cornerback
Not us and I remember him being hurt all the time when he did.
|
RE: Cornerback
He did well though when he was with the Vikings, I was excited when we signed him, as you know it was short lived.
|
RE: Cornerback
Dale Carter isn't the answer, LongTimeFanForeverAFanLongerThanForeverfanForEternityFan... couldn't resist. :patos:
|
RE: Cornerback
how about Ike Taylor from the steelers? he's a solid #2 Cb
|
Dale Carter---- :dead:
a hall of shame signing. i had to suffer derision and being laughed at by co workers (in another part of the country) when that washed up cokehead was signed. he did nothing to change anyone's opinion either. current FA CB's worth a looksee without a woodson like price tag- plummer sf azumah chi fletcher sd taylor pitt mentioned already (RFA btw) dyson sea mccleon and warfield kc |
Carter went to the Ravens after we let him go because the substance abuse policy thingy. May still be there as 5th CB?I like Azumah, who can also return if we dont get the beerman. Dyson or any of them would be solid pickup.

RE: Re: RE: Cornerback
If they think they need another CB, then they could get one in the draft, and play Fred until the rookie is ready to start.
|
RE: Re: RE: Cornerback
I think Fred is a solid Nickel guy.... I like him he is alot better than Craft.... But we do need a #2 ......

RE: Re: RE: Cornerback
I mentioned this elsewhere, but Smith came up as a corner can and wants to play corner.
|
RE: Re: RE: Cornerback
I think we need to make Dyson and Plummer two priorities.
And I agree with AllSaints, Fred Thomas could be a good nickelback, probably better than Craft. |
Here is an idea thats not that far-fetched. Draft Bullocks at S, have both Bullocks bro's starting and move smith to cb.
|
Not a bad idea wiley, but Bullocks is most likely going to go in the 3rd, a round in which we don't have a draft pick...

The Bullocks/Smith idea was great. I could see that working well. But if we did want to look at one of the available FA's I would like to have Plummer from SF
|
Plummers pretty Good, and by all means an upgrade, I just wanted to point out that that may be our least pressing need on D.
We also Have Bellamy who I am partial to being a grad of Rutgers. We have so few NFL caliber players, however you will see a few in next years draft class. |
But Bellamy isn't a safety.....
|
He is my friend. Actually took over for Sammy Knight
|
RE: Re: RE: Cornerback
Aren't there at least a couple of draft prospects we can pull in the 3rd or 4th?
BTW, I'm glad someone brought this up on the boards because it was LOOOOONG overdue for discussion! Our boys have been getting singed on the corners for a long time now and we truly need a shut-down CB to take on the bigger WR's in the league. |
