What the hell are we not doing?
 

Everyone is making moves except us, especially our division opponents. We do have more spots to fill other than quarterback. All us Saints fans were so excited to get a new quarterback, so i guess the front office thinks that its all good now. If we dont plan on taking Hawk in the draft, why arent we going after a big name like arrington.

I kinda said the same thing buck. In another thread I posted that I was feeling a bit edgy with our lack of activity in FA.

... it may just be that the new coach thinks he has enough talent right now to win if coached properly?

... for example, we all complained about Venturi and how bad a coach he was... maybe the new DC can make this bunch play better... look at the players on defense:
Will Smith
Charles Grant
Dwight Smith
Mike McKenzie
Brian Young

Half the defense is composed of solid/good players, especially up front... there are a couple of young players at LB that had started to play better in Courtney and Colby, plus Fincher who didn't see much action last year, plus they got Fujita from the Cowboys, who's a solid player at LB...

..on offense, as long as Drew plays and his shoulder holds, they have now a QB who's not going to panic often and do 15 step drops and bail out of the pocket too soon, and who can do 3-step drops and throw screen passes, so that will alleviate the o-line some... plus we maya ctually see passes thrown in ffront of the receivers...

I agree with TR on all accounts except one.....(hey Tobias....we are moving in the right direction here...LOL), Brees will do fine but if we don't address the protection issues we have we may not see Brees do much of anything. We may remember Brees more as a turf tester who constantly got sacked and made sure the turf was soft enough to get sacked on.

The bomb will fall, I think the Saints are getting ready to make another big move, don't ask me why I think that but I see something big getting ready to happen, it might be around draft day.

with the #2 pick and all the romurs surronding it I like us keeping the cap room. Besides when the cuts start after the draft there will be some meat on the market. Trades will come alive too. no reason to panic right now. Brees is a big $ risk and we do not need anymore right now. Besides I do not think the moves in the division will keep us from competing for years to come any how. stay calm guys and girls.

We need to get an Olineman before the draft in order to avoid telegraphing our whole draft to other teams. BMG makes this point well in another thread, and I'm going to have to agree with him.
