Jimmy Smith, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints DE Jimmy Verdon, was arrested and jailed by Kenner, La., police Sunday morning, March 19, and charged with three misdemeanors, including battery on a police officer with injury, Kenner police said Friday, March 24. Verdon was discovered by Kenner police at about 8:45 a.m. sleeping or unconscious in front of a Winn-Dixie supermarket in the 4000 block of Williams Boulevard, according to police spokesman Capt. James Gallagher. "He appeared to have been drinking," Gallagher said. One of the officers involved in the arrest suffered a sprained wrist, Gallagher said, but returned to duty after being checked at a hospital. The team said they were aware of the matter.

My only logical reasoning for Verdon to be passed out drunk in front of a Winn Dixie is that he had to go get some groceries to make his after-drunk breakfast. He'd been out all night celebrating the fact that Aaron Brooks was cut. When the cops found him, they awoke him by taking his bag with the Eggo waffles in it. They didn't leggo his eggo, so he scuffled with them. Ever seen a man eating waffles at the Kettle after a good drunk? Not a good idea to try taking them away.
