Would you consider J.P. Losman as the backup for Brees?

I just read on Yahoo's NFL page (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl), the Bills may be interested in getting rid of J.P. Losman. I know some of you Green Wave fans may have some insight on that idea...what do you think? I never really got to see him play but coming out of college, I thought there was some chatter about him being a good NFL prospect.

I don't think Losman had a real fair chance to prove himself in Buffalo. I reserve my judgement on him until I see him play a little more. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Saints uniform either.

that kid wasn't handled properly in Buffalo, he's damaged goods. you can tell by watching him play- his cage has been severly rattled. i hate it for him, because i thought he was a good prospect coming out.

I dont want to see him NO....I'm not sure what they filled his head with in buffalo but it was not a playbook....plus I really think that guy has a serious ego problem...

That seems to be a trend for Tulane QBs. Ramsey, Losman. That being said, i'd give him a shot as a no pressure back-up. You gotta remember, the Bills moved back up itn he first round to grab him as their starter going forward. That's a lot of pressure for a guy not expected to go until the second round.

hell-to-the-no!!!!

The most common thing i have read is that his teammates hate him and he is locker room cancer. We have a young project QB already. A known quality vet is the need.

xan 03-30-2006 09:50 AM

And that quality vet is??? Jeff Blake? Jim McMahon? Ty Detmer? Kerry Collins?

This is a list by espn of all the FA quarterbacks are and where they've gone, if they've moved. Who's your dream acquisition? After lookning at this list, you can't help but want to draft Lienart.

Misread-
Quantity not quality.
Someone who is proven to whatever quality they are. Better than an untested rookie. I would rather see Tommy Maddox as a game one starter or come in off the bench in the middle of game four if Brees is hurt. Immediate pressure on a rookie can not only yield disappointing results (ala a list too long to write) but can scar them permanently. Carson Palmer behind Kitna for a year or Eli behind Warner (until he was injured) is the more proven means of QB developmental success.

As Payton said, We are in the win now business.

As to your two examples, a quality qb to start with a phenominal rookie talent behind them. Thanks for making the argument to draft Lienart so simple.

I wouldn't mind if the Saints went after Losman, but I'd only give up a 5th rounder

LongTimeFan 03-30-2006 06:39 PM

No No No No

Totally agree LT.

spkb25 03-30-2006 07:51 PM

pencil me in for mcmahon. i didn't know he still played. at least he won a super bowl

9thWardDesire 03-30-2006 09:48 PM

Again, HELL-to-the-NO!!!

:crow: GROUND PAT'I!!

BiggPoppaFro4 03-30-2006 09:56 PM

Better idea...let's get Archie to un-retire, before we go that route

That is the same kid that got diced by our defense. A defense that is so schizophrenic we never know what part of the opponent's gameplan we are going to come strong against.

I have to agree, if I may quote a great poet: hell-to-the-no!

blackwidows 03-31-2006 02:42 PM

NO. AND i VOTE FOR AMAC

hagan714 04-01-2006 06:14 AM

lets see here we get there #8, #42, and JP this year and a #1 and a 4 next year.
Haloti Ngata, Michael Huff, Jimmy Williams, Jay Cutler, Chad Greenway are still on the board. hmm food for thought.
I believe JP was missed handled in Buffallo but I do think he will be nothing more than an above average #2 QB in the nfl. but instead of a low pick say in the 5 or 6 range i would take him. Trade straight for him I would have to say NO.

spkb25 04-01-2006 05:29 PM

i may have been talking about mcmahon from the bears 85 super bowl team. way to pick that up. obviously not serious

BiggPoppaFro4 04-01-2006 05:35 PM

We still need a back-up though....I don't know about AMac right now...maybe in a year, but who is still out there?

I mean....back-up QB lightning doesn't strike twice...does it?

CheramieIII 04-01-2006 05:55 PM

I say we cut Bouwoman, make AMAC #2 and draft either Jacobs in the second or Josh Betts in the 6th or 7th round as our 3rd.

spkb25 04-01-2006 07:28 PM

cherm i am with you on letting todd go. he isn't a good backup in my opinion

milesc44 04-02-2006 07:41 AM

I wouldn't want him as a backup for the SCOUT team !!!!!!
