Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports there are some behind-the-scenes talk of USC RB LenDale White not slipping in the NFL Draft as some stories have gone since his poor performance at his Pro Day workout Sunday, April 2. One team drafting in the 20s recently encouraged White not to run before the NFL Draft so it can pounce on him with its selection in the first round. Another team in the mid-teens already has told White it plans on drafting him.

That team is roomered to be Denver at 15. I like White and would pick him in a heart beat at 15. Duce needs some back up inbetween tackles. We do not have one

If I'm looking for a pure between the tackles, back up rb, I'd draft Cedric Humes, rb out va tech, in the 5th or 6th.

Unless I run a Subway, I don't want White anywhere near #15. Good back that doesn't know how to take care of himself.

THis draft has too many good RBs to waste #15 on him. Denver has a couple of other spots they need to focus on first, like WR, S, or even QB.

HAHA who remembers this same talk about Eddie George before he came out.

"He's a fatso that can't stop eating". "He can't control his weight"...yatda yatda.

I think he did well for himself. White is still the best RB in the draft, and he'll be drafted as such.

rush, I'll just skip the Bush comments and leave them for someone else.

White is the 3rd best back inthis draft. and he is quickly on his way to being the fourth best. Bush is the 1st pick (i.e. "best" RB) in this draft. Now comes DeAngelo Williams. Yes he's5'9, but kid made his money playing RB at Memphis. Can you name an OL from Memphis with out a draft guide? no, but what about an OL from USC? That's right, we all have them just about memorized. Williams led the nation in rushing TD in 04 with 22. the same year that he would have gone in the top 10 of the draft, had he not broke his leg in the bowl game he almost single handedly got his team to. BTW, that 22 is only 2 less than the precious 24 I hear about from White all the time. Kid has also rushed for over 6000 yards inhis career, hold just about every school record and did all this at the "football factory" of U of memphis.

Also you say the some "heavyweight" theme was used on Eddie George. The same thing was said about another award-winning running back with lots of production. He's too big and won't be able to get around the edge or slip through cracks. But his backers would counter with "he's a downhill runner that will simply get it done". Ron Dayne is now trying to win the spot in Denver, his 2nd team.

Is White talented? yes. Will he make a good career? yes, if he want's it. just that right now, he doesn't show that he wants it so much as he wants a double whopper.

Then again, as long as another team screws up their pick and we make out well (BRICK!) we'll be happy. Glad to see we were able to avoid the Leinart/Young/Cutler questions this draft.

Oh well come on everyone here knows I wasn't even referring to Bush. He'll be the first pick taken so how does he even enter the conversation, come on now. I thought that was understood.

But for you...ok Reggie Bush is the best RB in the draft. Who didn't know this?

I don't think DeAngelo Williams is better than White. I know that he is the best RB in Memphis history, but although White played against some weak competition, Memphis played against WEAKER competition. And you just pointed out one major strike against DeAngelo Williams...his injury concerns. I'm sorry...I'm taking the back that has eating issues over the back with durability issues.

And are we now comparing Eddie George and LenDale White to that one trick pony known as Ron Dayne? White has some moves at least....Dayne has none and never had any.

Your right, I should have left Bush out of it. You clearly presented that part of your arguement. I should have seen those words. They must be neatly placed in between those lines.

Did Memphis really play weaker competition? In the sense of conference play, yes. The CUSA isnt' the PAC-10, but the PAC-10 isn't the SEC or the Big 10, now is it? Also, White was used in a platoon with bush. He didn't see nearly the action Williams did, and still got held out due to minor injury (yes that happens withall RBs, but you put it on the table).

Also, Eddie Georges big question mark wasn't his weight coming out of college, he was always a freakin' greek statue. His big question was his durability. the kind that happens to a big guy that makes alot of contact in a run based offense. Did I compare George to Dayne? No, I left that one for you to do. Did they both win awards and set records? yes, but George had the work ethic to know that his Heisman glory stopped at the door to the Oilers training facility. Dayne had a frequent eaters card for the Barnhill's down the street.

Once again, am I a White-hater (does that sound wrong or what?)? no. I just wanted to bring back into the conversation the fact that Williams is an accomplished back with the right to NOT be left out of the "top RBs" conversation. More so than White in my eyes.

Well I'll just agree to disagree on this one. I just happen to think that DeAngelo Williams is more of a question mark than White. Williams is definitely more shifty and has more upside, but White is more "NFL ready" and doesn't have injury concerns. Bush....not even part of the conversation.

I see your disagree and raise you two agrees on other topics we've posted to already today. Great conversation though. And judging by the name, at least there's one other person out there who doesn't think lightly of Deuce. I actually saw a quote of him being "overrated" on some posting! (though he was a raider fan, and since they only get one hour a day out of their cell, I let it go)

And you are right, Bush is on a world unto himself. I just hope he does end up in Houston so we don't have to face him that often.
