Saints | Team now interested in J. Martin

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports the New Orleans Saints have now entered the picture for free agent QB Jamie Martin (Rams). The Saints want competition, and an insurance policy, for QB Drew Brees, who is coming back from shoulder surgery.

BWho is Jamie Martin going to compete with? Todd Bouman? I'd rather see us draft a QB in the later rounds.

Draft a QB in later rounds..... no thats wastin a pick.... just keep todd thats whats probly gunna happen anyway unless we sign another QB...... I think Brees will be ready to go by Reg. Season so we really dont need a great backup un less he gets injured *knock on wood* so bouman will probly still be at the #2 at the start of preseason.....

Martin wouldn't be a high FA pick for me but I'd take him over Todd Bouman any day, If I'm not mistaken Martin has played with 5 different clubs since coming to the NFL.

Martin would be alot better than Bouwoman and that's a fact!

Bouman needs to go. Martin isn't THAT bad....but I really don't want either. I'd take Schaub or even Fiedler.

well normand were not going to get shaub so we have to go with what is actually possible. i mean i have a wish list also but the fact is we aren't going to be able to get certain players. i wouldn't mind jay though

I know, I know, but I think getting a solid backup could be really important. I just want a "capable" backup...someone who has been in the league...look what Flutie did.

I actually kind of hate to give up on Bouman, but he just hasn't done that great. A durable veteran who can come in and lead if need be is what we need. Oh well, hopefully we won't even need the backup. I think Brees is going to do really well.

Todd Bowman couldn't hit a receiver downfield if Stevie Wonder was covering him.
