is favre becoming a joke

he or his people call a press conference for today then he sits there and plays dumb. saying i don't know why you are here i have nothing to tell you. this is becoming a circus. i think he likes it. how do you call a press conference then ask people what they are doing there. tobias i think you are the one that said how ridiculous this is getting. you are right bro. anyone else getting tired of his act?

This is almost as bad as Jerry Rice doing "Dancing with the Stars."

I don't think what he's doing is right but I don't see him saying he will be back or not is going to affect them draft wise or free agent wise. It's Aaron Rodgers responsibility to come into every camp ready because he should know he's going to be the eventual successor to Favre. They should prepare as if Favre isn't going to come back and if he does, great... Rodgers will have another season learning the system. Favre is being a little selfish though and I'm starting to see him in a new light. We all know he's coming back... just get it over with it's getting a bit old.

I don't know if that is necessarily true, Papz. Rodgers was Sherman's pick. McCarthy may want someone else.

I have seen this subject on many message boards today, and the fact that people can't get one thing through their heads pisses me off. THE PRESS CONFERENCE WAS FOR HIS CHARITY EVENT THAT IS GOING ON THIS WEEKEND!!! IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH HIS CAREER!!! IT WAS JUST HYPED BY THE MEDIA!!!

Then that would be a wasted pick TR and it's a little too early to give up on him... I can't see them drafting another quarterback. Well on the first day at least... but I see your point.

In response to the question about Favre's jokey-ness.
I'm not sure he's becoming one, I think he locked that down a couple of years ago when he threw away the playoffs against the Eagles.

The nuttier thing to me is the slurping he's getting from nearly the entire news media. The guy can pull a classic Aaron Brooks moment and somehow it can't be the fault of the living legend.

I read once (I can't remember where, maybe a David Fleming article) that the most dangerous place on earth is between Brett Favre and a TV camera.

My own take: OF COURSE HE'LL BE BACK. He's going to want the non-stop slurping that happens when he retires. The, will he or won't he, business going on now is just him setting the stage for the every week fanfare of him finally retiring. Once he decides to come back I think the Packers should deal him to the Redskins.

Farve needs to make up his mind very very soon for his teams sake, I'm sure this is putting a lot of pressure on the Packers not knowing where they stand with Farve.

dwiley21 04-09-2006 11:11 AM

I like Brett! He was a great Qb, yes his time has passed, but hey I find this whole press conference HILARIOUS! All the big networks spending $$$ to hear his "announcement" instead hearing they wasted a trip. LOL PRICELESS!! Personally I could care less whether Brett returns, He plays for the packers a team not in the NFC south. The saints play the pack in week 2 regardless of who the qb is they will be ready to play and the saints owe PAYBACK!!! I say let Favre hold the pack hostage thats one less NFC team to worry about!

papz 04-09-2006 11:32 AM

That's a good way to look at it dwiley... agreed.

CheramieIII 04-09-2006 11:35 AM

Already is a joke. He doesn't have the skills anymore to take any team to the playoffs. Maybe they will trade him to Dallas so both the whiners could end their careers there.

Archie Manning had every right to be pissed when he retired, not Favre.

LongTimeFan 04-09-2006 11:43 AM

If I was the Packers I'd make the choice for him, (Farve), not wait on him, I'd give him 3 more days and that's it, play for us or go home.

AllSaints 04-09-2006 02:30 PM

Aaron Rodger is way better than Alex Smith i gurantee it so its aaron rodgers tim later farve...... past your prime done zip zero retire !!!!

When the press conference was announced, it was not announced as "press conference for Favre's charity event", so everyone assumed he was going to make a football related announcement. He cleverly didn't announce it as a press conference for his charity to take advantage of the speculation on his retirement and get more publicity.

RE: Re: RE: is favre becoming a joke

but tobias someone from his camp said he was going to make an announcement

patdog 04-10-2006 08:03 AM

It's time to let go. and if he can't make up his mind by next Saturday, the packers should just cut his ass.

dwiley21 04-10-2006 02:26 PM

He did make an announcement. He announced the Press wasted a trip and he still hadn't made up his mind!

BrooksMustGo 04-10-2006 02:40 PM

Oh, one more thing.

Psssst, Brett. You're part of the reason the Packers were so bad last year.

RE: Re: RE: is favre becoming a joke

the pack will go 3-13 with or without Favre...If #4 retires the Ted Thompson is going to be the most reviled man in GB because he fired a coach who had 1 losing season out of 6 and refuses to pay athletes what they are worth with the exception of #4...plain and simple when favre retires and the pack goes 3-13 this year because Rodgers wasn't ready for the jump and learning two systems in two years they are gonna be kicking themselves for letting Nall go to the bills

patdog 04-10-2006 09:13 PM

What do you think the Packer fans are thinking and how do they fell about old Brett about now. I know i would pissed with the club and him. MAKE UP YOUR MIND BRETT.

BrooksMustGo 04-11-2006 09:15 AM

I wonder what happens if the Packers take Cutler or Young at #5?

pakowitz 04-11-2006 09:19 AM

i think he will make a decision before the draft

Does Favre (or "Fav-rey") knows that the Jets and Ravens have a HELP WANTED!! sign posted outside their respective camps?
