Packers meet with Arrington
Packers meet with Arrington
By TOM SILVERSTEIN Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson has said he's not done in free agency and true to his word, he stuck his toe in the water with former Washington linebacker LaVar Arrington, a three-time Pro Bowl selection. The Packers scheduled a visit with LaVar Arrington before Brett Favre's comments Saturday. Arrington, who shares the same agents as free-agent cornerback Charles Woodson, met with Packers officials Monday to discuss the possibility of playing in Green Bay. Arrington and Woodson, who visited Green Bay last week, are the two biggest names left in free agency and are both seeking a big payday. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=414919 Great news if they signed him. Doubtful they'd pick Hawk after paying Lavar a jillion dollars. |
RE: Packers meet with Arrington
Yeah thats some good news if they sign him... So Hawk would probly be ours if if if we trade out the #2 or would we pick hawk at #2 if we had 2??

RE: Packers meet with Arrington
if we stay at 2 then we will most likely draft leinert... and hold him till someone comes with an offer kinda like the chargers did with eli manning... drafted him anyway then traded him to the giants after they made their pick...

Arrington met with the Packers? How can this be? He only wants to play in the NFC east. He's an east coast guy all the way. He doesn't want to live in Green Bay during the season. No way he's talking to a team that doesn't play washington twice a year. Why if he's seriously talk to Green Bay, then maybe he'd talk to us. :bang:

If you're a superstar (and I use this term with sarcasm) LB and you were going to humiliate yourself by signing with a small-market team, Green Bay would be a high profile choice. As that same LB you might even be overheard saying when asked about whether you'd play for the Saints, "There's still a team called the Saints?"
Bottomline is he aint coming to N.O. |

Actually he's looking for around 12 million in guaranteed money for the first 2 years... so basicallly 6 million a season. So far the Jags have made the best offer I believe going just under that figure.
|
The billionth Lavar Arrington thread. The guy is looking for 12 mil in guaranteed money...that's not including the salaray he would be making in addition to that, so yeah it comes out to aroun 9-10 mil he's looking for. There has been NO indication that he's come off of his figure that Carl Poston threw out to the Giants, which was 7 years for 54 mil. Obviously the Saints(and the rest of the teams in the league besides Washington)don't think he's worth it, and at this point the guy doesn't look like he's about anything more than the money. We are not THAT desperate for LB help. And bring him down for an offer??? Why would he even waste his time unless he knew we were willing to give him what he wants? You think he'd get on a plane to visit if he knew that we were gonna offer him 6 mil a year? I wouldn't.
|
6 million a year? And... going to guarantee me two years? Hell yea I would. He would be dumb not to come down for a visit.
|
atleast a visit, but thats alot of money he is asking for, rather have hawk for cheaper

Again, wanting ridiculous money is not the same as getting ridiculous money.
|
why pay this guy that kind of money when he really isn't what we need anyway! This dude had the defense given to him, keys and all, and still couldn't figure out how to drive the car. you're a LB! Just drive!! He had some of the best D-minds around him, and is now a free agent after getting picked where he did? He isn't worth the contract with us rebuilding our locker room, as well as our team.
Go for Hawk. A young kid with the drive to excel, and the leadership position he'd WANT to take waiting for him. |
