Am I the only perso who thinks.....

that Reggie bush is going to need a very good offensive line in the NFL. At USC he was running through hole 8 miles wide and made secondary players miss tackles. I like his explosiceness and speed does kill but I just don't see him as a 1,500 yard 10 td running back in the NFL.
Also, Cadillac Williams came into the league with far less hype and gained 1,300 yards while missing games. Reggie Bush is going to have to that and more just to live up to his hype. He is going to need 1,500 yards rushing, 500 receiving, 10-15 TDs, and a 35 yard return average.

Far less hype? Yeah I guess so, but it wasn't like he was overlooked or anything, he was the 5th pick in the draft. And Cadillac's line isn't the best in the NFL, so I don't really know what point you're trying to make. Bush is one of the most explosive athletes to come into the NFL in a long time. He's going to be exciting, and although he's not the typical RB build, he'll get his yards and TDs and highlight reel plays, no matter what kind of line he has.

He may not be the leading rusher every year, but he will more of a Marshall Faulk type back that can beat you in more ways than one.

My point is if an underhyped Cadillac rushed for 1,300 what will Bush have to do to be a success?

This guy better run for 2000 yards and score 25 touchdowns and lead the Texans to the super bowl this year to even come close to touching his hype. He will probably do decent witha few rookie mistakes {normal} but that will make him one of the hugest draft bust of all times. But at least he will be a rich bust.

bush will be a great back, but no matter what he does he will be seen as a little overrated...mostly because people love highlight reels.

Are you kidding? You think because he is the number 1 pick in the draft that he has to run for 2,000 yards? All Bush has to do is rotate with Davis, catch some passes, return some kicks, and play his game. That alone will make that team better. If his team gets better, then he did his job. He isnt going to be asked to do everything because they already have a 1,000 yard back and they have Andre Johnson and Eric Moulds, so all Bush has to do is play his role and make that team tougher to defend...and thats what he will do.

Two words... Gary Kubiak.

Best OL coach ever in my opinion... he can make any line into a good one.

I think Deangelo Williams may have more success in the league than Bush. Just my opinion.

That's not to say that Bush won't be successful, its just a good year for running backs. I'm not sure why many mock drafts have Williams going in the 20's, I can't see him outside of the first 17 picks. The guy has moves galore, and seems to have a pretty good attitude.

If the Texans pick Bush, you're going to see one of the most feared offenses in the league. Sure they'll need to have good offensive line play but that line has already proven it can block well enough for Davis to run like crazy. Lets see split backs with Davis and Bush in the backfield...both swing to either side...choices choices choices? Bush running down the seam of a defense where the WRs have run quick outs after a fake to the back will drive Texans opponents crazy...Bush is the real deal...he's fast, he's strong, and he's very smart coming out of the same offense that everyone gives Lienart points for being exposed to a "pro-styled" offense...make no doubt about it...short of injury, he will have a huge impact on whatever team gets him...especially if the Texans, Saints, or Titans get him. All of those teams have proven offensive minds capable of utilizing his unique skills.

Who was the last runningback to come out with this much hype,I can't think of one. I don't think he can play up to the hype. I think in a few years he may became a pro bowl back and lead the league in rushing, but he will need everything to go right. I mean a above avg Oline and a QB that can take the pressure off the running game. I don't think Carr is that QB. But with all the sh#t I just said, I would still draft him.

The last junior RB to come out with this much hype was Marshall Faulk out of San Diego State. After several records & offensive player of the year awards (not to mention a Super Bowl title), I would say he lived up to his hype.

How was Cadillas UNDERHYPED? He was a top 5 pick... that just doesn't make ANY sense. Yes, Reggie Bush has had a ridiculous amount of hype.

No it won't. That's just ridiculous. How do you figure? As long as he doesn't blow out his knee or something, there's no way this kid is going to be a "bust." Maybe you need to re-define what the word "bust" actually means. From what you're saying, Eli Manning is a huge "bust" because he has made some rookie and sophomore mistakes in his first two years? No, Ryan Leaf is a bust. A bust doesn't do anything. A bust gets replaced by a career backup because he's just no good. Sullivan is a good example of a "bust." Sullivan has been replaced by a DE who we've forced to become a DT (Whitehead). I doubt that Reggie Bush ever has to sit out behind somebody unless he's seriously injured.

I think you gotta point a finger at the NFL machine for such over hype. The difference between a top 5 pick and the rest of the first round can be tens of millions of dollars. If I'm Bush I hire a P R guy before an agent! In reality any of the top 5 worth that kind of jack to teams that are gonna struggle even with maybe even two 1st round picks? You bet they are! If the Texans take Bush he alone will put fans in the seats regardless of his playing time. He also will be the potential X factor which at least for a while might open up the field to a team that needs another option to help it score and win games. Unless he really breaks thru and sets records ect ect he will be considered a "bust" but compared to the hype its a foregone conclusion that its gonna play out that way...

Faulk was also an every down back. Bush wasn't in college, I doubt he will be in the pros.
