The Worst-Case Scenario Thread (Draft Day)

Ok everyone. Let's go ahead and mentally steel ourselves for the absolute worst thing that could happen on draft day. Likely scenarios, far fetched scenarios, whatever you like. If we go ahead and settle on the worst outcome, we can look on the bright side come draft day.

What's the worst thing that could happen on draft day? I wonder what Diva thinks on the matter.

Here's mine. Tags announcing, "The New Orleans Saints give draft selections in the 1st, 2nd and 4th rounds to the Miami Dolphins to acquire RB Ricky Williams."

RE: The Worst-Case Scenario Thread (Draft Day)

Trade the entire draft and Grant for Jevon Walker

RE: The Worst-Case Scenario Thread (Draft Day)

we trade out of 2 and get 5 and fall sleep like the vikings did a few years back and miss out on the top 10 of the draft

saintswhodi 04-13-2006 02:33 PM

Is this unrealistic worse case or realistic? I am not gonna go unrealistic, and would say my worst case scenarios is not being able to trade down. That would force us into choosing between Brick, Hawk, Williams, or Leinart or maybe even Bush. And we would have no extra picks. Yes they are all good, but moving down with lesser options is more favorable for me. With that much talent to choose from, you can easily outthink yourself on who's the best player to take, or the best road to take in order to gain more value for the pick. At 4 or 5, the picture is a little clearer, and we would have extra picks. So, being forced to stay put is my worst case scenario, although ti could easily become the best if the Texans don't take Bush, and we hold him for ransom.

fhs623 04-13-2006 02:35 PM

if I hear the sentence, "With the second pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the Saints select Vernon Davis."

FrenzyFan 04-13-2006 03:06 PM

My worst cast scenario is that we trade down and don't get value for the trade. For instance we trade with the Jets for their #4 and a 4th round selection. Something like that.

Tobias-Reiper 04-13-2006 03:11 PM

... taking Vince Young with the 2nd, or someone other than Hawk, Brick,

TheDeuce 04-13-2006 03:45 PM

I think it'd have to be: We have to announce a trade. The New Orleans Saints trade their #2 pick, their #34 pick, as well as their 4th, 5th, 6th, and both 7th round picks for the Houston Texans' first overall pick. With the first overall pick, the New Orleans Saints select Mario Williams, DE, NC State.

ssmitty 04-13-2006 04:06 PM

i'll go the unrealistic that could turn into the realistic........

the saints pick a defensive player, and drew brees breaks his leg jogging.............

Worst case scenario?

Payton tears his ACL, running to the podium to turn in the #2 pick. Saints’ brass move swiftly, placing Payton on the IR, and replacing him with Rick Venturi. What they forget until the 2nd round is that Payton never turned in the pick, and our #2 overall has suddenly turned into #35, while our #34 turns into #36, in which they select Brodie Croyle and Brian Calhoun back to back. Venturi decides to trade the rest of the draft to Green Bay, in exchange for Brett Favre and Donald Driver, freeing up cap space for the pack to show some love to Walker.

We end up with 2 QB’s, 1 RB, and a 1 WR.

Tom Benson also finds a solution that extends his lifespan another 30 years, and even outlives myself. The Saints move to Bermuda in a push by the NFL to bridge intercontinental activity. The SuperDome is then turned into the world’s largest gay bar.

papz 04-13-2006 05:32 PM

Wow you suck... we're jinxed. We all might as well go jump off the highrise on I-10.

BlackandBlue 04-13-2006 05:46 PM

I have one picked out on 75, here in Dallas. 55 stories of free-falling fun.

BrooksMustGo 04-13-2006 06:19 PM

How about this:

We stay at #2 and pick Kedric Golston DT Georgia.

WVSaint 04-13-2006 07:19 PM

we trade our first rounder to oakland for their first rounder and aaron brooks.......thats worst case scenario

LivnaLieTimay 04-13-2006 07:20 PM

I'm going to go with the most realistic scenario that I would not like. Even the Saints aren't going to take Vince Young, Vernon Davis or Kedric Golston (I hope, haha). We take Mario with the 2nd pick and Brees' shoulder isn't the same and is no where near the qb he used to be. This scenario, we don't fill any needs and now we're stuck with Todd at qb and no oline and a lot of holes on defense.

D-buck47 04-13-2006 07:35 PM

Pretty much what Kiper predicts in the new mock

Boogro 04-13-2006 07:38 PM

Worst case scenerio is not getting our early picks out on the field and producing. We need impact players all across the field. There is no reason why we can't get 3. Hopefully, we can get a fair deal for the #2 pick

patdog 04-13-2006 07:53 PM

We trade our 1st pick for Ricky Williams and a pound of weed.

zachsaints52 04-13-2006 08:39 PM

We trade our first for Deion Sanders.... gotta have a high namer, right???? :D

Euphoria 04-13-2006 09:39 PM

worse thing that can happen is we pick at number 2.

We trade up to number one and draft Leinart! That scares me to death!

Thanks skippy. I'll go get my 30 foot bunji cord and find a 20 foot bridge, so I can prepare to be disappointed.
