Dwight Smith
Smith on the block?
<Apr. 24> Despite playing just one year in New Orleans, and having a very productive all-around campaign in 2005, Smith is being dangled by Saints officials in trade talks, according to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli. One of the teams showing some interest, ironically, is Tampa Bay, for whom Smith played the first four seasons of his career before signing with New Orleans as a free agent last spring. Tampa Bay has two solid young safeties in Jermaine Phillips and Will Allen, but the Bucs coaches still love the ballhawking Smith, a guy with a big-play mentality. Smith has four seasons left on the contract he signed in New Orleans, and the first two years of the deal carry very palatable base salaries, $1.2 million in 2006 and 1.6 million in 2007. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors |

Well if you throw up, I'm not coming behind you and cleaning it up.

RE: Dwight Smith
D. Smith is not going anywhere. the team is just putting that out there to see who will bite. Just like the rumor about Donta. Trust me it will not happen.

It better not. Dumb move if so, especially if we trade him to Tampa.
|
You are correct...it would be bad if we traded Smith...it would a downright shame if we traded him to Tampa. I have to believe that if they are serious about trading him...under no circumstances do they trade him within the division.

Makes no sence to trade smith. The dude is locked up for 4 more years and this year is cap friendly. Unless Smith has an issue with the new coaching (maybe he does) then maybe he is being truely floated. But his loss would weaken our historically weak backfield so I hope they are just rumors.
