KIPER CHANGING HIS TUNE ABOUT SAINTS

The guy who only weeks ago was soooo sure the Saints were picking Mario Williams with the #2 pick is now changing his tune. Kiper said today on the ESPN draft special that he's pretty sure the Saints will be taking either D'Brickashaw Ferguson or A.J. Hawk. I like this scenario much better. Though I would prefer Hawk, Ferguson would be a very solid pick at #2. Then we could pick up Bobby Carpenter, D'Qwell Jackson, Abdul Hodge, or even Nick Mangold at #34.

RE: KIPER CHANGING HIS TUNE ABOUT SAINTS

sounds like Kyper and Clayton must have talked.

Kyper: "Hey Mark, do you really believe that about the Saints selecting Mario Williams with the 2nd overall pick?"
Clayton: "Mario? Hell no, I pulled that out of my ass on sportscenter 3 months ago, just to **** with Stewart Scott.....who knew it would catch fire the way it did???"
Kyper: "well, damn"

You know what's scary? The conversation probably went down exactly like that.

I just don't see the Saints picking Hawk at number 2. I think this Javon Walker visit today is a portent of things to come on draft day. I say we trade down with the Packers they get our pick at number 2 and Mario Williams and we get their number 5 pick and take Hawk. We also get Javon Walker and get Green Bay's third rounder.

I can handle that scenario, too.

walker and 5,67 gives him a 1st round value. no way. sweeten the pot, A 3rd in 07 at the least.
2600-1700-225= 675. late 1st but he is coming of injury and wants big $$$ in a new contract.

spkb25 04-27-2006 02:40 PM

yeah i heard that today and it makes more sense

No way the Saints are going to waste an opportunity to draft Hawk by taking damaged and poisonous goods like Jevon Walker.

Savant 04-27-2006 04:08 PM

Would Payton even want him? Is Jevon verging on pre-modona?

JimBone 04-27-2006 04:56 PM

The same thing was said about McKenzie and i dont recall any trouble out of him...maybe its just green bay.

Savant 04-27-2006 05:09 PM

Maybe. But I wouldn't break the bank for him. Not right now.

spkb25 04-27-2006 05:19 PM

well i wouldn't break the bank for the guy either but he will come back. the guy is a talent and was the packers best wideout 2 years ago and would have been last year too. beleive me it killed me at fantasy last year when i loss him first game of the season.

D_it_up 04-27-2006 07:15 PM

Do you mean prima donna, Savant? lol...just bustin' your balls. I could deal with this scenario, but we still need another pick from Green Bay. Possibly their 2nd round pick this year or next. That is the ONLY way I'd go through with this trade.

spkb25 04-27-2006 07:38 PM

d it up we need another pick this yuear. we ned a second or third. i think we are trying something to get a second or third this year. probably why we are trying to put some guys out there

LKelley67 04-27-2006 10:21 PM

I think he meant pre-madonna, like donna summer or somebody.

I don't think he would be in for a visit if they had not already did due diligence to know if he would fit with payton's program. I'm all for the #2 to #5 move cuz that is where Hawk seems to fit best in the big picture.

Hey, LK, what is up, my man?

:D So you would think he meant "pre" madonna, which would translate to "before madonna?" Donna Summer was more of a disco-queen instead of a sexy-rocker, so I would be more likely to say "pre-madonna" would be somebody like Blondie, or Debbie Harry. 8)
