Veron davis at #2

ESPN's Merrel Hodge thinks we will pick him and Shawn did not agrue that point. So????

saintswhodi 04-27-2006 02:59 PM

Ridiculous.

zachsaints52 04-27-2006 03:05 PM

They need to...... quit talking.

foreverfan 04-27-2006 03:23 PM

Would be a super pick no matter where he is picked. This guy is a game breaker and creates more mismatches than college football.

thib82 04-27-2006 03:33 PM

I think he his going to be a good player and possibly and pro-bowler. He will be a great addition to any offense, but as far as picking him at #2, I dont see that happening.

Savant 04-27-2006 04:01 PM

We should trade our whole draft to move up to #1 to get him. :bs:

fhs623 04-27-2006 04:08 PM

Hodge obviously hasn't heard that the saints already have a yound pass catching tight end (hilton). As far as Davis goes, I think he's being overhyped. In the game versus Florida St. he had only 4 rec for 54 yards and 0 tds, and Florida St played three NFL caliber players at linebacker....I just think he may have taken advantage of lesser competition....here's the box score from that game...http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/boxscore?gid=200510290003

TheDeuce 04-27-2006 04:34 PM

Good point. He's overhyped as well. He's very similar to Mario WIlliams. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS WORKOUTS. Nothing special in the games. People are just amazed that he ran a 4.38 and he is ridiculously strong. What I would say to that however, is that people don't have to run a 4.38 and be able to squat the world in order to be a great football player; and just because you can do those things doesn't mean you're going to be a great player.

Be4 nice to Merrle he's still barley can remember his own name

spkb25 04-27-2006 07:32 PM

Note that the Saints beat writer picked D'Brick.

SFIAH

I will tell you all right now...and save this if you want to...Vernon Davis will be offensive rookie of the year...unless he goes to San Francisco.

TheDeuce 04-28-2006 12:33 AM

I seriously doubt that. Tight ends hardly ever win any awards. I don't even think he's that good of a tight end. But hey, I could be wrong. It's just my feeling that he's not going to be as good as people like Merril Hoge say he will.

JimBone 04-28-2006 01:28 AM

He will win it if he ends up on a team like Green Bay...or the Jets

LongTimeFan 04-28-2006 05:51 AM

Davis is a guy who can start right away, I'm sure he's getting a lot of looks, some say the Niners are looking at him, I also think he'll be with San Fran...

AllSaints 04-28-2006 06:38 AM

No thanx on Vernon sure he great but um we dont need a TE waste of a pick.....

I'll bet cash money he doesn't get offensive rookie of the year.

zachsaints52 04-28-2006 09:08 AM

Yeah, Bush will. Look what he could do in Houston? 500 rushing, 500 recieving, alot of KR and PR (even though they have Mathis)

zachsaints52 04-28-2006 09:08 AM

But 500 is a low ball figure for rushing, but I don't think he will be alot of running, just alot allaround.

thib82 04-28-2006 09:52 AM

Bush will win it as long as he makes a few plays. Every big play he makes will be amplified 10x simply because he is Reggie Bush.

zachsaints52 04-28-2006 09:55 AM

Same for someone else, but at DE

yasoon 04-28-2006 10:04 AM

Hodge is just out there saying crap to get headlines. It's working.

From a need standpoint, I would put stud TE at about 5th on our list. Hilton looks solid.

Has he seen our lineup? We clearly need MLB, DT, OL way before TE.

Too many concussions.

chRxis 04-28-2006 02:37 PM

vernon davis will be a great tight end in this league but as with any rookie, it will take a little bit to adjust to speed and ability of the defenses of the NFL... in college he played against teams that had some talent, but many role players that will never suit up in the NFL.... on sundays, everyone has talent enough to make some sort of contribution... even jonathan sullivan

dwiley21 04-28-2006 04:33 PM

I could live with davis as a pick, but "ONLY" if they trade down and miss out on Hawk and Brick
