Brody Croyle???

Sean Salisbury and Merril Hoge a few minutes ago on ESPN's Draft Update both emphatically picked Brody Croyle as the best passer and leader in the 2006 draft. His only knock is two surgically repaired knees. Anybody??? Is this just total BS or are we just way too VY v. Lie focused?

RE: Brody Croyle???

You think he'd fall into the second round?

RE: Brody Croyle???

They both said that he's a solid 2nd rounder, but he won't make it to the 3rd.

Hmmm...I'm just not sure. I'd like to see us pick up another pick. I'm not happy about not having one in the third round.

I don't know. He does get injured A LOT! He is also short, and doesn't have the best physical tools. He reminds me of Jake Delhomme.

Then pick him at 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol j/k

If we get an extra third, maybe. Definitely if he is there in the 4th. He may have been injured, but he is a tough kid. And definitely a leader.

RE: Brody Croyle???

Not that either of those two analysts really know anything, but they said that his arm was better than Cutlers' at the Senior Bowl, and better than Lienart's or Young's watching film.

There are worse things to be said of someone than they remind one of Jake Delhomme.

RE: Brody Croyle???

Delhomme is the a fine examples of intangibles risings over physical gifts.

Ha! Yeah, let's pick up a guy with two surgically repaired knees to back-up a guy with a surgically repaired shoulder. Hell, let's give Jason White a call and see what he's doing these days. He at least won more games in college - and missed less.

Why even talk about a QB in the early rounds? Its not like he can come in and help us now and we have way too many holes that need to be addressed.

BiggPoppaFro4 04-27-2006 09:45 PM

The last thing we need is a QB in the first day. Croyle is going to be solid in the right system, but not for us. Our bellcow is Brees now...get used to it kids. Payton comes from the school of great leaders with skill overcome great skill that can't lead. I think Brees has a long term deal.

Now, Croyle is a great kid. Some team is gonna be real happy to get him and in 10 years, he may be a great QB with numbers behind him. I actually think the Dolphins, Jets, and a couple of other teams could use a guy like him. He got injured in college, yes, but that isn't necessarily a harbinger to keep teams away. Leftwich got hurt too, but he went #7.

If we hadn't gotten Brees, I could seen us taking D in the first and Croyle in the second(third if we had one and he dropped)

i don't think he is a prospective player for the saints at all. if you think that you might as well push for leinart at #2. as said though and i agree, he does have a boatload of intangibles it seems. the knees are definitely an issue too. some are saying the jets are interested in him at #35. they did have another gimpy kneed alabama quarterback that did okay a while back too. And not Richard Todd.

QB Jeff Mroz ~ Yale -- Big, strong armed quarterback 6' 5",230
he is my only pick for QB and he will be a 7 or FA I bet.

JimBone 04-27-2006 11:39 PM

I dont care what we do with the 7th round pick...not like it really makes a difference...draft whatever QB you want

TheDeuce 04-28-2006 12:42 AM

Todd McShay thinks we should draft Marcus Vick. We already have a ridiculously athletic "project" at the quarterback position. I think we should take that kicker, Huston or something, from Ohio State. Carney has worn out his welcome.

JimBone 04-28-2006 01:26 AM

Kicker has to be addressed at some point.

chRxis 04-28-2006 02:58 PM

with payton's emphasis on character i think its safe to say that marcus vick, even with his arm and talented feet, will not be getting drafted by the saints... maybe big bro michael can persuade the falcons to take him and make him their #3, but other than that he's completely sabotaged his chances with most NFL teams in the market for a quarterback

chRxis 04-28-2006 03:00 PM

kicker, will be addressed as usual in free agency... don't forget we have nate fiske from ucla, that was one of the best kickers in his draft class... maybe he'll supplant carney this year... personally, i'd love gostkowski from memphis... the kid has serious range and accuracy....

dwiley21 04-28-2006 04:31 PM

No Qb needed... Brees, Martin, A-mac. If another Qb signed needs to be a vet or and undrafted FA.

I like the Huston pick. I also think Brodie Croyle is a Tom Brady type.

spkb25 04-28-2006 05:40 PM
